A crash course in changing the world.
In order to be a truly great social innovator you need to take as many problems as you can find and turn them into situations that will be mutually beneficial to both you and the environment at large, including the natural environment. It is due to this that I have come up with a few ideas for the next season of Evoke. There are some things that I think need the attention of a good social innovation team.
Firstly I think HIV/AIDS is an important factor to consider, especially in South Africa. It is also gaining an increased reputation amongst the rest of the world’s population. HIV and Aids is becoming more and more of a buzzword in the world’s halls of power. Every day millions of people die from an Aids-related illness. This I think is important enough to be a challenge for the Evoke team.
I also think that the water crisis is an important factor. There is hardly enough water left in some towns and cities, Grahamstown and Knysna, to name but a few. This isn’t all due to the fact that there is no water. It is mainly due to the incompetence of the municipalities and administrative sectors. They are able to get water from other sources, such as the Vaal Water Scheme, however they are too lazy to do anything about it and so wait for the area to be declared a national emergency area and then say that they will do something. This means that they will get their bonus’ and at the end of the day that is ALL that they are interested in. They are nothing but greedy, self-righteous fools who think that they are better than the citizens they profess to serve, but in the mean time they are no better than the sc** of the earth.
I also think earthquakes and drought are a good idea to put into the next season of Evoke.
I think people who have a lot of spare time on their hands should play evoke. Only people who can and are able to should be encouraged to play. I don’t think post-grad University students should play as it takes up too much of their valuable time and energy that could be better spent elsewhere, and especially not if they are doing it for another students research project.
I think that the way in which they encouraged the Evoke game in season 1 was very good and if they do that again it will still work out very well. Facebook was a good idea as many young people use facebook and it is a social networking site after all.
I would not play the evoke game again. I feel that the benefits that I gained from the experience are far outweighed by the time that it used. It was not beneficial in that most of the principles that were trying to be conveyed, I am already aware of. There was also not a lot of stuff about trying to help clean up the natural environment. I personally think that that is of far greater importance than some of the issues that we were told to deal with in Evoke Season 1. I don’t think it was worth the time and effort at all.
