URGENT - Impending famine in Tokyo - A Call to Action! IMAGINE1

Today is March 4, 2020. I just received a call from my eldest son that he is doing well in college and that his professor has recommended him for an internship to work with one of the top physicists at CERN. He was overjoyed to get the news. I am so proud of him. I spoke with my younger son a couple of days ago, he too is doing well in college and looking forward to a career in video game design. I sometimes wish his horizons were a bit broader, but I know it has been a passion of his since he was a pre-teen. As for me, I have a large social network and am very active in promoting ideas that will help others online as well as in real life. I run a wellness center that focuses on natural health remedies, knowing that in a small way, I get to help my local community.

The phone rings and I get an urgent Evoke message.

The people of Tokyo have less than a month supply of rice left and a famine is imminent.

Upon being alerted to the dire situation in Tokyo, I immediately set to the computer to get the word out among the different social networks. Tokyo needs help to stave off a humanitarian catastrophe. Tokyo has an estimated population of 131.6 million people. (http://www.mongabay.com/igapo/population_projections.htm ) I immediately help to set up a donation center to fund the humanitarian aid needed to rescue the people of Tokyo. Facebook, Twitter, Myspace, and others are all great ways to reach a lot of people all over the world.

I send out an Urgent request to the countries who produce the most rice to send donations to the Japanese people. India, China, Japan, Indonesia, Thailand, Burma, and Bangladesh are the highest producers of rice. http://www.rice-trade.com/world-wide-rice-production.html This is only going to be a short term solution, but hopefully it will be enough....for now. Other countries can be asked to help with other staples until the crisis is averted as well. So much to do, I use my network to get help in starting the grassroots movement. Donations are ideal, I do hope these governments are willing to help out. Japan may need release debt owed to the country as a form of payment for these supplies if necessary.

With the immediate crisis averted, the long term solutions will also need to be addressed.

Through social networking, government programs, public service announcements, mail distribution and other methods of getting the information to the public, distribution centers for civilian participation, education, jobs and general involvement in the relief effort.

Getting the population involved is extremely important to the long term success of the program. Education and training are absolute necessities in order to accomplish the ultimate goals. When the target population is involved, they begin to "own" the solution rather than seeing it as a handout. This is important to boost self esteem and get the society back on their feet.

Ultimate goal is to increase food stability through sustainable farming techniques and production of alternative fuel sources to help with the increased needs of the food production and distribution.

Aquaculture and mariculture can also be used to plant forests of different types of Algae and kelp for food needs. Many forms of algae are high in protein and nutrient content. Many types also are very fast growing, providing needed food resources and eventually can also be cultivated for production into ethanol, fertilizer, and animal feeds.

In addition to these new technologies, local farmers can be encouraged to increse food production through other innovative techniques as well.

Retrofit existing structures for growing food and/or algae for production into ethanol:

The resulting ethanol can be used for the increased energy needs with a low carbon footprint. In addition to the algae farming, solar, wind and wave energy can be utilized as well to help with energy needs.

As an added bonus, if a surplus of ethanol is produced, it can become a cash source to bring income into the Japanese economy.
