My friend
Emily responded to a comment I made on a
post about how I am always trying to motivate people into believing in themselves. This is par for the course for me. it is something that I strive to do each and every day. Even if I do not believe in what someone else is doing..I take the time to encourage them in their beliefs. This is especially true when it comes to religious or political beliefs. it is important for each and every person to find their OWN true path. My path is not right for everyone, and knowing this, it gives me great pleasure to see how my encouragement of others helps them to strengthen their own beliefs.
Emily was kind enough to direct me to her
blog (
http://www.urgentevoke.com/profiles/blogs/another-hero-i-have-chose... ) about an inspirational woman she thought I would like. All I can say is WOW!, has she ever inspired me. I cannot tell you how many time in the last few days that I have reposted the link from that one blog entry. I made my kids watch it, I sent it to my mom, I even posted my own blog about this woman. I simply cannot find enough venues to post it.
Kiran Bir Sethi has a very simple and easy to follow plan to change the way children think. Most children go to school day after day learning from a text book. Kiran has given a hands on approach that allows children to really experience for themselves what it is like to live the life of another, then she encourages them to do something about it. This change in perspective she calls the 'I Can" bug. Deceptively simple, yet unimaginably powerful. I really recommend everyone watch the video!
I was so inspired, I decided I wanted to send it to my younger son's school. He is in a Special Ed school for kids with Emotional Disturbance. My son's difficulties come from Autism and the small class size is just what he needed. That being said, I know the teachers there are always looking for ways to engage the children, so I thought it would be a great idea to get it over to the teachers there. I sent an email to the Principal, who is also the Coordinator of Special Education for the entire district, my sons current teacher and last years teacher. I also posted the link on my facebook page.
Even today I am STILL posting the link every chance I get.
Here is the link that
