I suppose it may sound selfish, but when Evoke asked me to improve the food safety of one person I knew, I started with myself. This year, I have begun work on a
small herb garden. It started with my step father packing potting soil into plastic cups. When I went out to see what he was doing, he handed me a packet of seeds.
My brother and I have now planted ten-or-so trays of plants. We've created a spot in our garage by the window for the plants to get light. We built a small rack to hold the trays, and we water them every day. I have been surprised by how easy it's been. All that we needed was soil, cups, and seeds. Although our small "garden" may not feed us. We won't have to buy anymore basil, chives, rosemary, or sage. My brother looks forward to his sunflowers growing, and I'm sure our cat will enjoy the catnip.
