Food Bank

I have been helping out at the local food bank. This is something that should help those parents who need it save some money and be able to feed their children long term. Having groceries given out on 2 weekends a month helps sustain the local population allowing them to save money for different personal goals.

Food security through food safety.

Rising to the challenge of food security, I decided to actually make a video demonstrating a simple recipe that addresses food safety. Food security is a major issue in many areas around the world but food safety is just as important. When a food insecure family gets access to good food, such as meat, it is important for them not only to have it for nourishment but to also handle it in a manner that will ensure they don't get sick. In my video, I briefly address simple steps in food safety…

Food Security Act

I helped with a local church in Gainesville serve food to people downtown on a Wednesday afternoon. It was such a rewarding experience just passing food out to some of the thousands in my town who are homeless. Smiling at them and just giving them a warm piece of chicken or bread to eat was very touching. Helping them ensure that they would have enough warm food to get them through the next day of their life was the least that I could do. Doing that really gave me a new perspective and…

Act2- Start a Garden

My roommate/ best friend eats out ALL the time. The only time she ever eats at home, she eats junk food. When I think about helping someone in regards to food security, I think of her. I want her to eat more wh*** foods and take care of her body. But, I want her to have fun doing it. That being said, I went to the wh*** foods store and bought some herb seeds and some potting soil. (I already had beginner potting plots at my house.) I ensured her of the positives of growing your own food from…

Increasing the food security of at least one person in my community.

To help at least one people first, I will search for a place that are most undeveloped. Afterward I am going to interview the villagers. I am going to find about their occupation and know how much they earn every month or week. After knowing their situation I am going to find any free area for planting fruits and vegetable. I am going to go to that place every month with a brand new seeds.

1+ Spark

My friends dog died, so we bought her a plant, and she liked it so much that she asked us to help her set up a complete garden. We had a different variety of vegetables and flowers and it looked great.

Act2

I went shopping and bought a home growing kit for tomatoes and peas which I gave to one of my friends as he wanted to grow his own vegetables. This will help him to practice being resourceful and hopefully in the future he will use these skills.

Home Garden

A way I could help by making more food for my community and helping in that problem, would be just to start a garden.Plant crops, fruits, and other foods. That way we could be eating healthier and also saving money.People could use that time as exercise and bonding time. That way if everyone starts to plant there own food and garden, that will help the world with food crisis. At least enough food for there family.

Open East End City Center

Because I'm racing to catch up, my Action here is to create a design proposal for the Eastside neighborhood of the city of Ventura. This section of town consists largely of tract homes mixed with some agriculture and strip malls. Unlike the Downtown area there is no…

My creativity falls short

I tried to come up with an idea to tackle this assignment, but my brain failed me.

Fortunatly, my next-door neighbor told me that their kids are running a food drive through their school.

I gave a can of string beans...

Food Security-Act 2

To increase someones food security I grew a garden in my grandmothers back yard, It included carrots, peanuts, corn, peppers, pumpkin, and tomatoes. What did we do with all the extra food? Well with all the food we had alot extra so we went around town and gave a little of each product to those living on the streets. After the act of kindness I felt really good. I felt like I had just helped save someones life atleast for a couple more days. I also knew they really appreciated it by the looks on… Continue

Act2

When I was about 8 or 9, we actually had a garden in our backyard, However, it was really hard to keep it up because at that time, we didn't have it enclosed so deer and rabbits ate everything we tried to grow. However, me and my mom have been wanting to grow our own garden again. We recently went up to the lake where we have some property and my dad's friend actually started his own garden. He's growing watermelon, corn, jalapenos, tomatoe, okra, squash, and much more. Just seeing how his… Continue

home vegetable gardens

Coming from India where agriculture is the major indudustry, i believe home vegtable garden is a very basic character which can aid to food security.

Like growing bitter goroud or spinach, which is highly nutritous and consumes less water addedly you can use vegetable wate as a manure which will be acceleratign their growth.

In fact we the seeds of mango or some fruits I throw it in the alley of flowers of garden, which resulted in tree and trust me a nautral garden is always…

Access to community garden for my grandfather

I've contacted a local community garden to see if there's a place available for my grandfather to join. He used to be an avid and innovative gardener and mourns the loss of that part of his life now that he's in a tiny unit.

If there's a place available, I'll pay for his membership. If not, I'll need to look at establishing another garden. After all, if there's sufficient demand to create a waiting list, there must be sufficient demand to sustain another garden!

Food Security of One Person.

I would help that person by telling them to plant some food instead of flowers because that way they will always have food and all they have to do is take care of the plant.

Taking The Next Step

For a couple months now, I have been working in a community garden, primarily working with compost. But I can't help but want to take another step. With plans for landscaping already in progress, not to mention supplying local businesses with with compost and worms, we (Local Motion Fresno) are keeping our eyes and ears open for new opportunities.

We are taking a leap in our intentions soon. Making a community work day for the garden. We will teach people around the…

Act2

I am the principal of a K - 4 school. We are currently running a Breakfast for Learning program every school day. Every morning we feed 60 - 90 students. Our breakfast menus are made with the assistance of a nutritionist. It is important that students are well fed and ready to learn when the school day starts. Even is students come in late, they are given breakfast in the office if they have not eaten yet. We have expanded the program slightly and are now able to offer a sandwich and fruit to… Continue

Gardens gardens gardens

Building food security for others starts with ourselves. Recently, I just joined Boston Organics, a local food supplier that sources its produce, bread, dairy, and some snacks locally. By buying locally, not only am I living my values, but I am also supporting the livelihoods of local farmers, thereby ensuring their existence and their families' security.

In other news, my yearlong research project into urban gardens in Boston will hopefully yield valuable insights into…

Fourth of July on the Lake

This past weekend was the annual celebration at the lake house in Connecticut. It is amazing that the lake is still so clear and beautiful after all these years. The watershed association has done a wonderful job protecting these waters from the damaging effects of development. The wood grill was finally ready to cook on, so we didn't miss the propane tank fueled grill anymore. The food actually tasted fresher than in the past and was easy to keep fueled.Dad was very proud of the solar hybrid…See More

Stinging Nettle

In this blog post I will focus on a plant that is abundant in our nature, and which is immensely nutritious. It's of course the Stinging Nettle. Future

FutureToday is 2020/1/1. It is just like yesterday. The war is still continuing. It has started since 2010. In 2010, that year was a horrible year. Almost every energy ran out. Every country’s governments were crushed down at the same time. There were riots everywhere. All of the big company’s bosses were killed xdeadx in the riots. Troops fought each other everywhere. Food was bought up xawayx at once. There were no more food supplies in any shops. The economy was all crushed down. All the…See More

public servants

The exchange works directly for state and public workers and servants. It gives them credit in exchange for the amount of public work they contribute to the community. The more constructive they are based off a base rate the more credit they recieve.
