After searching net, I think the following from Georgetown University, USA has it.

Drinking and cooking kill in developing countries. Diarrheal illness caused by dirty water and respiratory disease caused by smoke inhalation from wood fires are the two leading environmental causes of disability and death in the world, representing 10% of the total global burden of…

Converting Light Spectra into DC Electricity Using Solar Antennas

I was going through lot of current ideas of electricity generation. Suddenly, I could come across this one submitted by Beckerjon. Hope all will find it useful.

"Using our knowledge of antenna and microwave circuits as well as antenna optimization technologies, we will investigate technologies that can convert a wide spectrum of light (IR, solar, UV) into…

LEARN3

I discovered a very interesting agency called Sunfire Solutions, which is based in Johannesburg, South Africa. The director of this company goes by the name of Crosby Menzies. This company is harnessing the power of the sun in order to give communities the ability to cook, boil and fry food at no expense to the environment. So not only does this product provide a sustainable source of power but it is also environmentally friendly. Double whammy!! This product is known as the solar cooker and…

Engineers Without Borders

While searching for a "power player", I came across this organisation "Engineers Without Borders (Australia)".

According to their website, this organisation "works in partnership with developing communities both within Australia and overseas, assisting them to gain access to the knowledge, resources and appropriate technologies they need to improve their livelihoods.

We focus on developing the…

Energy from trees

I have found an interesting article in which there is the announcement of a clever idea - namely, to generate electricity from trees. This captured my attention because trees are abundant, environmentally friendly (of course, they are, being part of the nature). Here I copy the article:

Pedistrians can generate power!

Pavegen an UK based startup has made paving blocks which can be set in public walkways to generate as much as 2.1 watts of electricity per hour from the footsteps of grizzled pedestrians. Using marine grade stainless steel and recycled materials, just five of these bad boys distributed over a well-worn sidewalk… Continue

Filipino Inventors:Leading a way To energy Conservation!

Manila, Philippines (AHN) - Filipino inventors has recently

demonstrated before government representatives four new inventions that

would lessen energy consumption, including a "super additive catalyst"

that would make a car run without oil or water.

The inventors, who are members of the Filipino Inventors Society (FIS),

displayed and operated their gadgets before government representatives

at the Department of Energy (DoE)…

Energy storing clothes

In this article http://www.alternative-energy-news.info/nanotechnology-lights-batteries-clothing/, an engineer from Stanford shows how a fabric dipped in nanoparticles can conduct energy. The article discusses possibilities such as clothes that can store energy.

Maybe someday clothes will all be able to efficiently store the heat and kinetic energy released by human bodies. Maybe shoes will… Continue

Terrapower atomic energy plants using nucear waste as fuel

http://www.intellectualventures.com/TerraPower.aspx

Bill Gates talked alot about this project in his most recent TED talk.

The basic idea is that it's a form of nucear power plant that runs on the waste that convetional power plants have been creating all these years. It's a huge scale solution and it get's rid of toxic waste. It's brilliant.

If you…

LEARN3: Distributed Power Generation

Centralised Large Scale Power Generation was always the way to go in the past. I assume this was due to the cost of control systems. Now the control systems have come down so much in price, distributed power generation is technically feasible and affordable. I know in my country, New Zealand, it isn't so much that you can't technically do it, you are not allowed to do it for archaic regulatory reasons. The politicians can't get their head around it, and the big energy generators won't let the… Continue

Portable Light and Power

The Portable Light Project combines textiles and solar panels to bring renewable light and power to folks in remote locations, the developing world, and even more industrialized places. Basically, small and very flexible solar panels can be sewn onto clothing or other easily stored textiles. This non-profit research group is bringing the panels to different locations to see what people can do with them. They've also worked up a… Continue

This is an easy one.

ME

What started as a simple science fair project eventually grew into a passion for me.

I created a cost effective way to double power generated by standard wind turbines by adding solar panels to an existing wind turbine in order to increase its efficiency.

I called the project "The Solar Mill" (patent pending)

A link an be found here.…

Fourth of July on the Lake

This past weekend was the annual celebration at the lake house in Connecticut. It is amazing that the lake is still so clear and beautiful after all these years. The watershed association has done a wonderful job protecting these waters from the damaging effects of development. The wood grill was finally ready to cook on, so we didn't miss the propane tank fueled grill anymore. The food actually tasted fresher than in the past and was easy to keep fueled.Dad was very proud of the solar hybrid…See More

Stinging Nettle

In this blog post I will focus on a plant that is abundant in our nature, and which is immensely nutritious. It's of course the Stinging Nettle. Let's start with the chemical constituents of this plant:37 % Non-Nitrogen-Extracts19 - 29 % Ash9 - 21 % Fiber4 % Fat22 % ProteinOnce the leaves are drid, their protein content can reach an astounding 40 %, which is much higher than beef, which even under the best of circ**stances can never exceed 31 % protein. In addition the Stinging Nettle consists…See More

I walk to the fridge and open it to see what there is for me to eat. All of the out of date foodstuffs have been automaticaly thrown away by the fridge, they will be recycled tomorrow as animal feed or something. I see i have organic local eggs and some local cheese. Future

FutureToday is 2020/1/1. It is just like yesterday. The war is still continuing. It has started since 2010. In 2010, that year was a horrible year. Almost every energy ran out. Every country’s governments were crushed down at the same time. There were riots everywhere. All of the big company’s bosses were killed xdeadx in the riots. Troops fought each other everywhere. Food was bought up xawayx at once. There were no more food supplies in any shops. The economy was all crushed down. All the…See More

public servants

The exchange works directly for state and public workers and servants. It gives them credit in exchange for the amount of public work they contribute to the community. The more constructive they are based off a base rate the more credit they recieve.
