A crash course in changing the world.
In 2020, banks will be completely automated, with no need for tellers or loan officers. Technology will have forced the humans out of the banks and into
different positions in the economy.
These tellers and loan officers will be able to process transactions
much faster than the humans that previously occupied their roles. Furthermore, there will be much less of
a need for actual bank locations, as most transactions will occur…

I believe that actual paper money and coins will no longer exist in the future. These are methods of payment that I think are outdated and will not serve a purpose with
the rapid rate at which monetary technology is advancing. At minimum, the world will change to
using debit/credit cards for all transactions in the future. I believe that we will advance far
beyond this though. With all of
the wireless technology and microchip technology available, I…

After researching this topic, I came across a website mentioned in previous posts, www.Kiva.org. This site is pretty amazing and helps great causes across the globe.
Kiva is a site where micro-loans can be made to organizations in
different countries across the globe, which do not need a ton of money
(according to American standards).
These organizations may need $1,000 to…

I found this task to be pretty simple. On World Water Day 2020, people around the world will be challenged to use a little water as possible for 24 hours. I think that everyone
should be allowed one gallon of water for that day, only to drink. This is to remind them of what people
in other countries have to live without everyday, which will create awareness
for the water crisis across the world.
Imagine if a middle class American…

To accomplish this, I did online research with different areas that are concerned with water conservation and providing clean water to areas of the world that have a
shortage of it. During my
research, I came across a charitable organization called The Water Project,
Inc. The Water Project, Inc. is a
501(c)(3) non-profit organization that's bringing relief to communities around
the world who suffer…

While water conservation may not seem as important as other issues, such as the energy crisis and the green revolution, it certainly plays an important role in where our future is headed
as Americans. Beyond us, the world
faces a much larger water conservation issue, especially in countries where
clean water is not readily available for use. To help curve the water crisis,…

When I think of 2020, I see solar power being the prominent source of energy in America. From working in sports, I
see many of the stadiums that go unused throughout the year as a major provider
of solar energy. Imagine if the
seats that were in those empty stadiums were able to capture the power from the
sun and send it back into the grid.
Not only would the…

Going off of some of the newer exercise equipment in the marketplace, I would design shoes that could store up energy from running.
This energy could be used to power something as simple as the iPod that
the person running uses. Building
off of this idea, I would design a gym that stores up power from all the
exercises that people are doing. I
know that there are…

After watching 60 Minutes a few weeks ago, I found an absolutely amazing energy company in California called Bloom Energy. This company produces boxes, called Energy Servers. These servers are built with solid
oxide fuel cell technology, and produce clean, reliable, affordable electricity
at the customer site. According to
Bloom Energy, “Fuel cells are devices that convert fuel into…

In 2020, I think I will be eating much the same as I am now. I picture myself having a dinner of chicken, vegetables and rice.
However, the way that these foods came to be will be different than it
is today. Ten years from now, food
will likely be grown with more genetic engineering. I think this will be true of all foods, whether it be plant
or animal.

As previously mentioned, I recently worked with St. Mary’s Food Bank here in Phoenix to raise food. We did this through can drives at athletic events. Fans were granted free admission or
discounted admission to a sporting event (depending which sport). The food drives collect a modest amount
of food for the food bank, but it should not be forgotten that a little can go
a long way for those that are hungry.
Following the food drives…

The biggest food security challenge near Phoenix has to be the poor quality of the soil in the valley, along with the heat. These conditions do not allow for calorie rich foods to be grown.
The desert is a very needy place when it comes to food and water. Another challenge is figuring out a way
to transport food to the Phoenix metropolitan area in less time and for less of
an expense. With much of the fresh
food in Phoenix coming…

Being a social innovator means being accepting of all cultures and creeds, while helping to create solutions to problems that may affect any and all entities. This
requires an understanding of what problems exist, followed by prioritization of
these problems based on their overall impact on the world. I, as a social innovator, see a wealth of
knowledge to be gained from merely listening to the problems that individuals
in America and other countries…
