EPISODE 1: High aims form high characters, and great objects bring out great minds

Scene 1: In a typical household in the city of Lusaka, a 10 year old girl sitting beside a bed of her two dying parents. Their bodies lying lifeless with very little flesh on them. Deep in thought, her question remains, what would become of her and her life?

These 10 weeks of Evoke have been one of the most challenging and interesting academic work i have ever done. I managed to learn about organizations that are helping with the nations prominent problems. I further established that in order to deal with the growing problems of the globe, a collective and initiative effort like Evoke can help overcome a number of issues over time. I believe that some of the issues that should be of great concern to evoke agents are as follows: Firstly, the… Continue

In 2020, i imagine that in my country Zambia, the flu pandemic affects majority of the community. My aim in this situation would be to help deal with this problem in the area of schools and how teachers can help reduce the spread of this disease. My choice of area is purely due to the fact that through public and private schools, children may get affected and this may lead to the quickest spread of the disease. With the help of staff, teachers, trained nurses and scientists online,…

By analysing the 5 aspects on how to manage a crisis situation, the secret of managing panic in a pandemic caught my interest. Panic refers to the loss of social order within an individual. People are running around doing what they believe is self-protective. They do so to deal with the crisis and this affects the overall social order in the community. Dorri Reisman states that journalists should be cautious as to how they report a pandemic as this has the effect of creating things…

My idea of a physical object that could be passed on from generations by indigenous people would be paintings that tell a story of the culture of a particular tribe. The paintings will be on a wood board and in form of dot paintings. For instance, Zambia is made of many different cultures which are primarily based on the Bantu culture and mixed with european influences. Popular traditional arts are mainly in pottery, basketry, stools, fabrics, mats, wooden carvings, ivory carvings,…

In 100 years time, i imagine that in Zambia, the depeltion of natural resources will take place with particular focus on the Lockinvar National Park which is located in the southern edge of the Kafue Flats. The problem as experienced in 2007 was that an invasive shrub had colonised a corner of the Lochinvar National Park, upsetting the balance of one of Zambia’s most diverse ecosystems. Mimosa pigra, originally from Mexico, threatened wildlife and pastoralists who depend on grazing lands in and… Continue

By carrying out the analysis of projects, the project for 'the participatory process of facilitating the organization of community based groups' in Zambia caught my particular interest. Initially, the Government of the Republic of Zambia initiated the Luangwa integrated resource development project in 1987 with funding from Norwegian Government. The main object of the project was to improve the living standards of the people through sustainable use of the full range of both the human…

I believe that in 2020, Lusaka, the capital of Zambia will be adopting the concept of urban agriculture. As demonstrated in exhibit a, the farming activities will move to the urban areas to the increase in the settlement in the cities. This will help with aspects of pollution due to the gases released by the farming. It will further help with dealing with malnutrition and other food related diseases. Secondly, as demonstrated in exhibit 2, the concept of a solar energy will be used to run the… Continue

Tens of millions of people across more than half the states in sub-Saharan Africa need urgent food aid, but the causes are often complex and varied. Food crises were once primarily triggered by natural disasters like droughts. But according to research by the UN Food and Agriculture Organization, man-made causes are increasingly to blame. These include conflict and poor governance, as well as HIV/Aids. From this analysis, it is possible that in future, zambia could possibly suffer from a…

Currently, the community i live in, has a small number of women that are actually working or making something out of their lives. Their basic lifestyle consists of being a homemaker with limited knowledge of how to support themselves. Through this computer training programme, i imagine that in 2020, most women in my community will be knowledgable enough to have jobs. Their empowerment through learning computer skills and other literacy skills will enable them to have jobs. It will further give… Continue

During my holiday in Zambia, i managed to undertake this challenge within my community. I reside near a community islamic school that helps the community in providing primary and secondary school education. Furthermore, the institution helps to train future prospective teachers that can contribute to the organisation. the institution recently received 15 computers as a donation from an arab owned organisation in Saudi Arabia. I, with a group of friends, hosted an afternoon seminar to…

From my research, i identified the organization created In Afghanistan for women by empowering them through different sport activities. sporting activities include soccer, hockey and volleyball among others. UNICEF, the Bamyan Provincial Department of Women's Affairs and the local Youth Information and Contact Centre (YICC) joined forces to promote girls' empowerment through sport – by organizing an all-female football match. as a travelers cheque wherein money could be drawn from anywhere around the

My choice of foundation is the Water For People Organization. This firm aims to establish itself all over the world and assist with the on going water crises and help further with water related diseases. But the real failures are all the broken pumps, filled latrines, and they want to change all that. Programs that last and examine entire districts and regions rather than

purely households and villages. Their mission and vision is to build a world where all people have… Continue

Fourth of July on the Lake

This past weekend was the annual celebration at the lake house in Connecticut. It is amazing that the lake is still so clear and beautiful after all these years. The watershed association has done a wonderful job protecting these waters from the damaging effects of development. The wood grill was finally ready to cook on, so we didn't miss the propane tank fueled grill anymore. The food actually tasted fresher than in the past and was easy to keep fueled.Dad was very proud of the solar hybrid…See More

Let's start with the chemical constituents of this plant:37 % Non-Nitrogen-Extracts19 - 29 % Ash9 - 21 % Fiber4 % Fat22 % ProteinOnce the leaves are drid, their protein content can reach an astounding 40 %, which is much higher than beef, which even under the best of circ**stances can never exceed 31 % protein. public servants

The exchange works directly for state and public workers and servants. It gives them credit in exchange for the amount of public work they contribute to the community. The more constructive they are based off a base rate the more credit they recieve.
