There are finally new tourists, whom I can show my tricks and maybe get some money. They consider this island as a holiday destination and enjoy. For me, this place is just a place to survive. Here I am trying to earn a little bit money to feed myself. My parents do not earn very much, so they task me every night to go the beach to entertain the people. Sometimes it seems that I bother them. However I have to…

Evoke should next deal for example with animal protection, CO2 emissions as well as technical innovations. However, I think that especially topics concerning children are of major importance. For this reason, Evoke should deal with education, forced marriages and child labor. Children are in fact creatures that are most helpless and can not help themselves. Therefore, they must be supported.
The network should try to build Evoke communities especially in regions that are affected by the…

I read the five secrets of Crisis Communication and my opinion is that all of them are important. However “How Do People React in a Pandemic?” and based on this “Managing Panic in a Pandemic” are especially important.

I choose the study about the protection of forests in Uganda.
Two case studies are taken from Western Uganda, East Africa (Mgahinga Gorilla National Park and Karuma Game reserve). They are about protected areas for biodiversity conservation.
Before the institutional changes the communities in and around the forests, traditionally depended on forest resources. Deforested and the heavily cultivated areas, charcoal and bamboo trade left mountain slopes vulnerable to soil erosion and…

From 1967 to 1978 in the former salt mine Asse II in Remlingen in the district of Wolfenbüttel 125.000 drums containing lower-level radioactive and 1.300 barrels of medium-level radioactive waste have been stored. They are from nuclear power plants and nuclear research facility.
Since 1988, a permanent liquid flow is registered on the ceilings. Per day up to 12.000 liters of water can penetrate into the “Asse”. For this reason the stability is guaranteed only until 2014. If the…

I choose the story " “I Wish…” UN Women captures Egypt’s first Human Chain against Sexual Harassment" from the WomenWatch news feed.

Inspired by snowballing, 80 participants distributing messages on paper sheets lined the sidewalks in Mohandessin, a Cairo thoroughfare. It was the country's first "human chain" against sexual harassment. Amog the participants there were women as well as men.…

Clean water is essential for life, but one in eight of the world’s population does not have access to it. As a result there are 1.6 million diarrhoeal deaths every year related to unsafe water, sanitation, and hygiene. The vast majority among children under five.
It is common knowledge that boiling, using charcoal, kerosene or firewood can make water safe to drink. But it is not as widely known that UV light also kills micro-organisms. Solvatten is a specially designed container that…

The growing energy demand for limited natural resources presents utilities, manufacturers and consumers with the challenge to use energy more efficient and environment-friendly.
However today we live in an industrialized society and also very consumerist. The use of gadgets is becoming increasingly common, either by necessity or hobby. Such gadgets tend to consume a high amount of electrical energy.
The Brazilian designer Joao Lammogila developed “Aire”, a kind of “mask” that…

In Germany, around 3 million children are growing up in poverty. Poverty means not only that children can’t be supported and are disadvantaged in other respects in their communities, but also that they are not adequately and wrong nourished, even though there is an abundance of food in Germany.
The first fundamental step in order to escape from this vicious circle of poverty, is a regular and healthy lunch for many of these children.
To ensure the food supply of the children and…

What you have matters more than what you lack!
This secret tells us, that you should focus on the available ressources and not think about "what if". Only than the best possible result can be achieved.
