from couture designers, Jennifer Kay and Mary Huang, the portable windmill has been designed with the aim of providing an alternative, albeit quirky, source of energy. This windmill is still in its prototype stages but the gist of the innovative green couture is that as one is walking or merely standing outside on a gusty day, the rotating blades on the "body piece" will generate light in the form of small white light emitting diodes (LED) that are said to be powerful enough to power an Ipod or re-energize a cellphone.
this invention is called the "dandelion windmill" as the rotating blades resemble the petals of the aforementioned flower, and it will rotate using wind power on the said day if one is walking or merely standing still on a really windy day. Thus this piece of fashion is powered by wind and human movement as said by one of the designers Mary Huang.
The two designers were part of the New York Green Fashion week for their invention "that creates an interface between nature, technology and people".
This is believe is an innovative and creative way of facing the issues of climate change, albeit in quite a quirky way that only the daring, high fashion wearers may be able to pull of....
