A crash course in changing the world.

Here's my indigenous wisdom: I have constructed a bull whip out of duct tape. Now, I completely understand the negative connotations associated with that object. I suppose on top of having something that I find really cool, it is also a reminder that slavery and physical violence is a very real thing and slavery is still going on across the world.

Even though there are many different negative connotations for the word "whip", there are a few positive connotations associated. And I'll try to elaborate them:

1) The saying :"Quick like a whip". This one goes to say that someone has cunning and is very smart.

2) Whip in: to keep together, as in a group, or members of a pack.

3) Whip up: To arouse or provoke interest in people.

4) Whip into shape: To bring into a certain state or condition, often in a positive connotation.

5) Whips provide direction for cattle, so we can say that it can be a symbol of direction and returning to attention.

Here are the steps to making a duct tape bull whip:

i) Line up 3 strips of duct tape of the same length (the length is up to you). The final length of the whip will be shorter than the length of the strips you originally started with. Fold each strip lengthwise.

ii) After having folded each strip lengthwise, you can close off and fold the strips on one side. Then, you can move all the strips closer to each other, as you can see by the picture below.

iii) After doing that, you have to braid the three lengths. If you don't know how to braid, look it up online, because it's to hard to explain with words. Anyways, it should look like this (it's a bit blurry).

After 15 to 30 minutes of braiding, you should get a full braid of about 4 to 6 feet. This is what you see in this picture. In addition, I've added a handle (a towel paper roll covered in duct tape) and a popper, which is what makes the whipping sound (it's a piece of twine with a few knots at the same place).

There you have it. Only use it for fun, never use it on someone else, even if it's as a joke.

If you don't completely understand the steps, do a quick search on Google or any search engine.

Have a nice day

Quick Positive Things About Whips:

Indiana Jones is known for carrying them around, and performing amazing feats of heroism and cunning with them. Harrison Ford is cool, therefore whips are cool.

The heroes of Casltevania(Like 9 of them) used a whip to fight the evil minions of the vampire Dracula. Some of them were even made of chains, or caught fire. Fighting vampires is cool, so therefore whips are increasing cooler.

If it's called a bull whip, a third grader would assume one of two things about it. Either A)It is a whip that bulls use. B)It is a whip that is used on bulls. Originally, B is what it was intended for. Dealing with livestock. Until bulls stand upright and replace 2 of their hooves with something capable of grasping, we don't have to worry about A.

Handling livestock is handling a source of food. Those who mis-use a tool are to blame, not the tool itself. I can see this as being practical when used properly, so long as it can stand up to the thick hides of cattle. +1 Resourcefulness.

there's one in the corner
Comment by Daniel Pisani on April 27, 2010 at 6:14pm
@ Chris you have to use a piano or else the whip won't work
@ Koshy lol "cracking" a joke
@ Benjamin lol that's hilarious
@ Ian: that's very resourceful of you, thanks for bringing the coolness of a whip into perspective. And we should be preparing to fight back the day when bulls whip us. I think in Soviet Russia, bull whips you.

And there, I just started a 5 way conversation :)

Fourth of July on the Lake

This past weekend was the annual celebration at the lake house in Connecticut. It is amazing that the lake is still so clear and beautiful after all these years. The watershed association has done a wonderful job protecting these waters from the damaging effects of development. The wood grill was finally ready to cook on, so we didn't miss the propane tank fueled grill anymore. The food actually tasted fresher than in the past and was easy to keep fueled.Dad was very proud of the solar hybrid…See More

Future

FutureToday is 2020/1/1. It is just like yesterday. The war is still continuing. It has started since 2010. In 2010, that year was a horrible year. Almost every energy ran out. Every country’s governments were crushed down at the same time. There were riots everywhere. All of the big company’s bosses were killed xdeadx in the riots. Troops fought each other everywhere. Food was bought up xawayx at once. There were no more food supplies in any shops. The economy was all crushed down. All the…See More

public servants

The exchange works directly for state and public workers and servants. It gives them credit in exchange for the amount of public work they contribute to the community. The more constructive they are based off a base rate the more credit they recieve.
