Urgent Evoke

A crash course in changing the world.

Jane McGonigal - Creative Director of EVOKE

Now as I've been playing EVOKE for about a week, I've come to think about McGonigal's idea of using games to change the world.

"Reality is broken, says Jane McGonigal, and we need to make it work more like a game. Her work shows us how."

Why does games like WoW create "epic win" moments? Because people gather and you trust these people to complete a quest. You level-up, you get items and all that links.

What do you actually get? You feel that you've overcame the impossible in this realm.

What about EVOKE? What have we been actually receiving by playing this game?

I realise I've been learning about new things by people everyday. We have formed a niché community and we want to transform our online experience into a real world experience. People are here - like-minded people - to give us feedback...which is what we really need right now because only through feedback do we stretch our thinking further, reflect and get better.

Also, as we prepare for our Evokation, we mix reality into the game. We'll experience real stress, pain, hunger, fatigue...the human touch that games can't provide. This is a huge catalyst to empower the world. Who knows, years from now we can proudly say we were all pioneers when we see this project or that report take off.

I take my hat to all who are playing this game. Be the change...if not, be the catalyst.

People love to do work when they know the work is valued, and when they can see that things are moving forward. Include these elements in any activity, and people will show up excited to contribute!

That's true Turil. It's the value that counts. It's the intrinsic value that we see that counts, and not distorted value generated by marketing and whatsoever.

"I love that you've brought this to attention. An extensive database of uncommon but resistant and hardy plants/foods could be developed and organized by climate. Ease of growth and processing should also be taken in to account. I will try to…"

Fourth of July on the Lake

This past weekend was the annual celebration at the lake house in Connecticut. It is amazing that the lake is still so clear and beautiful after all these years. The watershed association has done a wonderful job protecting these waters from the damaging effects of development. The wood grill was finally ready to cook on, so we didn't miss the propane tank fueled grill anymore. The food actually tasted fresher than in the past and was easy to keep fueled.Dad was very proud of the solar hybrid…See More

In addition the Stinging Nettle consists…See More

Future

FutureToday is 2020/1/1. It is just like yesterday. The war is still continuing. It has started since 2010. In 2010, that year was a horrible year. Almost every energy ran out. Every country’s governments were crushed down at the same time. There were riots everywhere. All of the big company’s bosses were killed xdeadx in the riots. Troops fought each other everywhere. Food was bought up xawayx at once. There were no more food supplies in any shops. The economy was all crushed down. All the…See More

public servants

The exchange works directly for state and public workers and servants. It gives them credit in exchange for the amount of public work they contribute to the community. The more constructive they are based off a base rate the more credit they recieve.
