Urgent Evoke

A crash course in changing the world.

I posted the following under Act4: Jeff and
Courtney Hogue, in Cambodia, have a great project that includes giving out 10
gal water jugs with filters and a spigot at the bottom. If you are interested
in their project, their email is jeff.hogue@worldteam.org

We need to promote awareness and water consciousness. Communities with an abundance of water forget that long showers, leaving the water running when brushing teeth, etc. are a problem. Besides giving my students reusable water bottles, we focus on the need for water to have crops. It has become popular to not use plastic water bottles, which is great for another reason, but we need to focus on water waste and water shortage.

Then what kind of watter containers should be used?

Mladen-- There is some evidence that the chemical bisphenol A (BPA) which is found in plastic can be harmful. The move has been to stainless steel. However SS is expensive

Most of the watter I drink comes from plastic containers. Local watter is polluted by a heavy metal spill that got into the asbestos watter pipes.

any plastic bottle labeled BPA free (and canned foods as well) is safe. They can be found online and in retail stores. http://www.rei.com/category/1/q/BPA+Free+Water+Bottles and http://walking.about.com/od/prpack/tp/bpafreebottles.htm. I like Nalgene bottles and I get them in retail stores for 5$ US. They are easy to clean and don't have free radicals leaching into your water. Some bottled waters have the same problem so I wouldn't leave them out in the sun, if you use them.

Mladen, have you seen the hand held water purifiers? Here is a link. http://http://www.ted.com/talks/michael_pritchard_invents_a_water_filter.html
It may be useful. I can also contact my friends who give out 5 or 10 gallon sized water purifiers that have a spot at the bottom.

I use Nalgene bottles, about 5$ US in a retail store. For larger amounts any non BPA plastic is fine, check labels. (Also, canned food is unhealthy unless labeled without BPA; like Eden brand) You can store water in those containers IF you have a filter to then purify it first, right?

Fourth of July on the Lake

This past weekend was the annual celebration at the lake house in Connecticut. It is amazing that the lake is still so clear and beautiful after all these years. The watershed association has done a wonderful job protecting these waters from the damaging effects of development. The wood grill was finally ready to cook on, so we didn't miss the propane tank fueled grill anymore. The food actually tasted fresher than in the past and was easy to keep fueled.Dad was very proud of the solar hybrid…See More

Stinging Nettle

In this blog post I will focus on a plant that is abundant in our nature, and which is immensely nutritious. It's of course the Stinging Nettle. Let's start with the chemical constituents of this plant:37 % Non-Nitrogen-Extracts19 - 29 % Ash9 - 21 % Fiber4 % Fat22 % ProteinOnce the leaves are drid, their protein content can reach an astounding 40 %, which is much higher than beef, which even under the best of circ**stances can never exceed 31 % protein. In addition the Stinging Nettle consists…See More

Future

FutureToday is 2020/1/1. It is just like yesterday. The war is still continuing. It has started since 2010. In 2010, that year was a horrible year. Almost every energy ran out. Every country’s governments were crushed down at the same time. There were riots everywhere. All of the big company’s bosses were killed xdeadx in the riots. Troops fought each other everywhere. Food was bought up xawayx at once. There were no more food supplies in any shops. The economy was all crushed down. All the…See More

public servants

The exchange works directly for state and public workers and servants. It gives them credit in exchange for the amount of public work they contribute to the community. The more constructive they are based off a base rate the more credit they recieve.
