Urgent Evoke Open Manifesto

Urgent Evoke is an ever-evolving entity; nothing is set in stone. Urgent Evoke is owned by the agents, and will reflect the current attitudes and philosophies of the agents.

0) the 'Evoke' - anyone can send an 'Evoke' call to Urgent Evoke. an 'Evoke' is a request for help that is sent to the Urgent Evoke network. agents will work together to solve 'Evokes'.

1) independent - Urgent Evoke is independent of nationality, politics and location. agents…

Urgent Evoke Act 5 Imagine United Texas Assistance League

Hello this is Sunny Du Pree and I come live with an amazing groundswell of activity from the local community. Here in Amarillo, things have really been difficult as many people struggle to keep their home and body together. Many go homeless and unfed. But there is a new hope surrounding these desperate people as we see by their faces. "Sir, sir, can you please tell me what is happening"? "Yes mam, said the cowboy. "Me and mine we got sick of seeing people go without so we got our churches,… Continue

2020... Oh! The world didn't end yet?

Well... First of all... At 2020, you will see me dancing and celebrating because we passed 2012.

I kiiiiiiid the end of the world.

I honestly don't believe that the world will end in 2012... What I believe is the end of the values and compassion of the people if we continue living like this. There are so many issues that need to be fixed but the people still concentrate on getting the number 1 spot so that their names will be known and…

Recycle (Re-use) to Help Your Local Charities

Short on cash and time, but want to help your local charities?

Many local charities will accept functional items you no longer need as "gifts-in-kind". It just takes a bit of research. Check their websites to find out exactly what items you can donate.

A year ago, I discovered a vast array of items are accepted and re-used by charities I knew and trusted in my city (Toronto, Ontario). For example:

  • Art work
  • Books
  • Building…

Donate Airline Miles (before they expire) - ACT5

I donated airline miles (Aeroplan) to Médecins Sans Frontières. They provide universal medical relief for people in world crises.

It's easy and fast. Don't let those unused miles and points expire!

Take action:

  • Visit the websites of your loyalty/reward programs. Look for ways to donate (use) miles or points.
  • Visit the websites of your favorite charities. Check if they accept miles or points as a…

Secret of Missing EVOKE Powers and Social Activism

the EVOKE 'powers' just seem suspect to me, with the fact that the World Bank is sponsoring Urgent Evoke. many of the 'powers' focus on invention and capitalism. people have been involved in entrepreneurship for centuries; however, many of the worst problems don't go away by throwing money at them.

it seems to me that there are several ideas at the HEART of social activism that are not present in the EVOKE 'powers'.

0) COMPASSION - LOVE, not…

The future of money is about trust and friendship

A new initiative by Venmo is designed to assist people in exchanging money among trusted friends using mobile text messaging. It is also being used to quickly raise money for charitable endeavours.

Peter Groverman from Pennsylvania, USA used Venmo to quickly organise relief efforts for Haiti.…

Money that doesn't really exist?

To be honest, when I first saw the LEARN5 mission objective - to write about an alternative currency or monetary project - my first thought was to virtual money. However, I felt uncomfortable writing on this subject as I couldn't see any benefit to it which would make a blog post relevant to EVOKE. Having thought a little more on the subject, I now see things a little differently.

EVOKE aside, my main online hobby is the virtual world of Second Life. It is where my EVOKE agent name and… Continue

Food security, starting at the beginning

ACT2 was a tough one, especially as I live in a relatively affluent country where farmers are looked after by the government and homeless are people are rare enough that the voluntary organisations already do a pretty good job of looking after them. (The Tzu Chi Foundation sends aid worldwide.)

I could just join or send money, but it seems like a cop-out. So I sat down and thought about where the problem originates and looked into the 'meat' of… Continue

Karmic Currency

i had developed the idea at the beginning of the week, but i don't know enough people where i live yet to really test it. please give me your thoughts and ideas on how i might give this a shot.

Karmic Currency

the idea is that every action done by an individual has an intrinsic Karmic worth, positive or negative.

Karmic points are gained by doing positive actions or providing goods at no cost; the action is…

Be Wary of Investors, Including Those of Urgent Evoke

i have been following Urgent Evoke from the beginning and only had the chance to start recently. however, i have noticed a bit of a trend that i think arises from the fact that this is funded by the World Bank. there seems to be a large focus on capitalism and entrepreneurship; as opposed to volunteering, charities and non-profit organizations. as in, Urgent Evoke rarely mentions the latter three.

Gandhi did not use business and capitalism in social activism.…

charity: water on Facebook, new mycharity: water BETA

i have been a part of the charity: water Facebook Cause since nearly the beginning, when there were maybe a few hundred people. one of my main driving forces and roles in life is that of information provider; i have been trying to get more people to get involved, but the going is rough. i hope that perhaps i can EVOKE other agents to join in this wonderful and innovative charity.…

charity: water

i was in early on this one due to a very good friend of mine that has intimate and direct links to the founders of this project, though i haven't been nearly involved as i should be. charity: water combines all of the parts of a brilliant and wonderful humanitarian project: innovation, results, foresight and accountability.

the innovation:

Against Social Darwinism, a Response to Pure Capitalism

i believe that capitalism has its merits, but i cannot agree that it is the perfect system. in truth, there are no countries that adhere completely to capitalism; most are hybrid capitalist with regulatory laws and socialist programs. this is similar to the fact that most countries that are called democracies are actually democratic republics. there is a very good and simple reason for these hybrid systems.

it is for preventing tyranny of the ma****, otherwise…

Donating to a good water charity

In order to assist in the global water crisis, I felt that I had to put my money where my mouth is and I have made a financial donation to watercharity.org which is an NGO (Non Governmental Organisation) which spends very little of the money that it recieves on admin, and most of the money in the field using peace corps staff to help implement water security and sanitation in locations accross the world.

They try and use local labour and local… Continue

[Food Security: Learn] The local homeless

I'm just going to keep this short. One problem rochester has is homeless people, and if you are homeless, you often go hungry. But here in town, we have places and organizations that give out food to those who can't afford it. In my opinion, this is a great solution. Perhaps we should be doing this sort of thing on a global scale. I don't know if I would call this security, as it depends on the generosity of it's contributors, but it at least helps them until they can get back on their feet.

Charity: Water

A couple years ago I read the story of Scott Harrison who had an idea to give up his birthday in order to raise money to support building water pumps and clean water projects. He started by hosting a birthday party and asked his friends to each donate $20 instead of a birthday present for his birthday in September. He raised $700 and funded six wells in Uganda. The next year he asked everyone to donate $31 dollars for his 31st birthday. From this one idea the charity has grown each year and… Continue

ACT4: Philanthropists Need our Help

I note from the video by "Water for People" that their cause is funded by the Case Foundation. I have been following Steve Case for a while now on twitter and registering interest on the Case Foundation Website.

I guess he and his wife are doing a great job supporting worthy causes all around the world.

I do have a sense of frustration dealing with Philanthropic organisations when attempting to offer help. I have done so via the web forms so many of them offer as their point of… Continue

Fourth of July on the Lake

This past weekend was the annual celebration at the lake house in Connecticut. It is amazing that the lake is still so clear and beautiful after all these years. The watershed association has done a wonderful job protecting these waters from the damaging effects of development. The wood grill was finally ready to cook on, so we didn't miss the propane tank fueled grill anymore. The food actually tasted fresher than in the past and was easy to keep fueled.Dad was very proud of the solar hybrid…See More

Stinging Nettle

In this blog post I will focus on a plant that is abundant in our nature, and which is immensely nutritious. It's of course the Stinging Nettle. Let's start with the chemical constituents of this plant:37 % Non-Nitrogen-Extracts19 - 29 % Ash9 - 21 % Fiber4 % Fat22 % ProteinOnce the leaves are drid, their protein content can reach an astounding 40 %, which is much higher than beef, which even under the best of circ**stances can never exceed 31 % protein. Future

FutureToday is 2020/1/1. It is just like yesterday. The war is still continuing. It has started since 2010. In 2010, that year was a horrible year. Almost every energy ran out. Every country’s governments were crushed down at the same time. There were riots everywhere. All of the big company’s bosses were killed xdeadx in the riots. Troops fought each other everywhere. Food was bought up xawayx at once. There were no more food supplies in any shops. The economy was all crushed down. All the…See More

public servants

The exchange works directly for state and public workers and servants. It gives them credit in exchange for the amount of public work they contribute to the community. The more constructive they are based off a base rate the more credit they recieve.
