Dance Floor?? pah. Dance HOUSE!!

Got my dance floor installed - that's right, installed, no longer leased, it's paid off, it's mine. And tonight I'm guna - we are guna - dance - on - it! Because it's by birthday, and that's how it's done on days in my name.

Well now, no I'm not that eccentric, my floors don't have the LEDs the original had. And besides I'm not the only one to invest in Dynamo-Flooring. Heck, it makes a lot of sense after Dynamo-Washers and Dynamo-Dryers. Not like anyone thinks they're eccentric, not… Continue

Light Recapture, Lighting Efficiency

This thought builds on 2 previously posted pieces of evidence:

this video on portable light by Simon Anthony - here

and a very short blog of my own - here

Alright, so:

There's a big problem in poorer, off-grid regions (thinking places in Africa) of getting enough light at… Continue

party

Well, if I can get my arse together, this seems to me realizable, useful thing to do: party.

But without the junk.

In my LEARN2 post, I wrote about why it's so important to food security that we focus on eating habits, buying habits, and making educational policy based on nutrition.

Here's some education and habituation in a fun context -- have party, okay yes, good so far right, but then have wine instead of beer (!!) and something awesome and nutritious for snack… Continue

the Innovative Stance on Research with applications for Downtown Dance Floors and Wind Power

We understand visual abilities more than cognitive abilities; we know that that our eyes are divided in function into that which we used to focus and that which we use to detect motion. We detect motion with our

peripheral vision.

If we have an analog in our cognitive capacities to 'see' change, cognitive

peripheral vision may be even more important than cognitive focus for social innovation.

When I played my best badminton in high…

Episode 3 and the Concept of Failure

In the Episode 3 discussion ( http://www.urgentevoke.com/forum/topics/episode-3-story-did-the-evoke ), there seems to be a majority of people that want to take the term 'fail' out of our vocabulary; many arguments against EVOKE having failed thus far are generalizable to all instances of what would otherwise be called failure - eg: there cannot have been a failure in light of the fact that something can be… Continue

Our Game: EVOKE points and politics

I believe it is critical for the points to have maximum meaning. This means, to me, that the problem is to solve for the points being distributed properly.

For points to be distributed properly, the meaning/concept of the points must be appropriate according to their use. Points are used for at least these three significant purposes

a) motivation - carrots for newbs such as myself (and it is highly appreciated),

b) confidence - I believe one MO of the game is to… Continue

power use: reflections

Okay, here's the deal:

I live in a north facing condo. Living room is not well lit; I'm there right now, looking at my monitor on my desk against the east facing wall. To my left is the balcony door/window -- north facing. Behind me on the west wall, between the couch and cushy-seat I've a standing lamp. Up and to my left, on top of my stereo speaker is a small desk lamp.

Right: Here's how I get more light power--

a) replace brown balcony door curtains with white… Continue

a pretty regular meal, for 2020

I bought my food at the Bubble Market. Sometimes I go to Lablaws, because it's closer. But the food you buy at the Bubble can be used against your tax return, making it worth while. Besides, all produce from a B-Market comes from a biosphere, and that feels good to support.

Feeling good about Bubble-buying makes sense for a few reasons. First and maybe foremost, the biospheres are closed environments which help to constrain research parameters on bio tech (ranging from soil conditions,… Continue

innovation and simplicity -- analogy to writing and reading

What rang through me the most, reading the tips on social innovation, was the bit about the sophistication in person-made simplicity.

In writing fiction, the idea is for the reader to page-turn (and not

just turn pages). Page-turning comes from a smooth ride, from it being

easy to engage the text - not an easy read necessarily, more like it

sucks you into engaging it (or like a wind at your back). When this

phenomena does occur, when it is easier to keep reading… Continue

Fourth of July on the Lake

This past weekend was the annual celebration at the lake house in Connecticut. It is amazing that the lake is still so clear and beautiful after all these years. The watershed association has done a wonderful job protecting these waters from the damaging effects of development. The wood grill was finally ready to cook on, so we didn't miss the propane tank fueled grill anymore. The food actually tasted fresher than in the past and was easy to keep fueled.Dad was very proud of the solar hybrid…See More

Stinging Nettle

In this blog post I will focus on a plant that is abundant in our nature, and which is immensely nutritious. It's of course the Stinging Nettle. Let's start with the chemical constituents of this plant:37 % Non-Nitrogen-Extracts19 - 29 % Ash9 - 21 % Fiber4 % Fat22 % ProteinOnce the leaves are drid, their protein content can reach an astounding 40 %, which is much higher than beef, which even under the best of circ**stances can never exceed 31 % protein. In addition the Stinging Nettle consists…See More

The meal

It is 7'oclock, I was late home from work due to an assignment that i wanted to get ahead on. By the time I get home I am feeling extremley tired and I cannot be bothered to make a proper meal. I walk to the fridge and open it to see what there is for me to eat. All of the out of date foodstuffs have been automaticaly thrown away by the fridge, they will be recycled tomorrow as animal feed or something. I see i have organic local eggs and some local cheese. Foods are vacc** sealded for easy…See More

Future

FutureToday is 2020/1/1. It is just like yesterday. The war is still continuing. It has started since 2010. In 2010, that year was a horrible year. Almost every energy ran out. Every country’s governments were crushed down at the same time. There were riots everywhere. All of the big company’s bosses were killed xdeadx in the riots. Troops fought each other everywhere. Food was bought up xawayx at once. There were no more food supplies in any shops. The economy was all crushed down. All the…See More

public servants

The exchange works directly for state and public workers and servants. It gives them credit in exchange for the amount of public work they contribute to the community. The more constructive they are based off a base rate the more credit they recieve.
