IMAGINE4-World Water Day

Since we want to make a bold statement concerning water security. I would like to make a huge mural depicting ways to save water and interesting ideas that people have come up with over the years. I would want as many people as possible to contribute to this. I would not only want one artist to work on this. It doesn't matter how "perfect" the artwork is. As long as it came from the heart and has meaning I think it will be beautiful. I also think since the mural will be so large it will make a… Continue

ACT4-Water for People

I chose to look at this site----> http://www.waterforpeople.org/unique/growing-impact/

I would like to donate to water for people. I can't donate that much money since I am still a student and about to go off to college. I will try to donate though as much as I can. Even though it may not be a lot it will hopefully help.

This is what made this corporation stand out to me..

"Many water and sanitation organizations… Continue

LEARN4:Collecting Rainwater

I was reading a book called Seedfolks recently and a great idea was brought to my attention. Why don't we use funnels to collect rainwater into large garbage cans and or other containers. It would be a great way to collect a large amount of water and can be used for gardening. In the book it was used to help a community garden. I myself would like to maybe try out this idea.

I would need....

-large containers such as garbage can etc.

-funnels or something that the water can run… Continue

The Rain Is Delaying my Garden.

Today we were supposed to possibly go out and work on the community garden but it is very rainy and foggy. Not on of the greatest days to begin gardening. I hope this project doesn't get constantly delayed. I've been doing everything I can to make sure this project gets started and completed on time.

I have done some more research on what I can grow in my area. I found out that I can grow almost any herb in my area. I'm really happy about this :D

I hope everyone has a nice day… Continue

School Garden

I found out that my school has a small piece of land located across the street. It is in a community garden which is great. We will begin working on gardening hopefully on Monday. It will a project that hopefully students from my class will get involved in. It just made me so incredibly happy to find out that my gardening dream will now be a reality. Although it not a huge area its definitely a great start. I will keep updating my progress hope everyone has a nice day. :D

IMAGINE3-Farming Day

In 2020 I hope for there to a national farming or gardening day. On this day everyone will harvest what they have grown and create a meal with it. It should be a time to spend with family and friends. Also it would be a great experience leading up to national farming or gardening day. You would be able to farm or garden with your family which could bring you closer together. Also you can use build windmills which is a great source of energy (wind energy). Also maybe a green house can be heated… Continue

ACT3-Solar powered cell phone.

Like most people in the United States I carry a cellphone with me. I also experience the same problem as most people where my battery dies at bad times which can be quite annoying. I think that we should introduce small solar panels onto phones so that lets say you notice your battery is dying you can just hold in out in the sun and it will begin to charge. I don't know how practical it would be to do that know but it is just an idea. I also think we should try to use solar energy when it comes… Continue

Such An Amazing Day For Gardening

Today it's just amazing outside. The weather is warm with a nice breeze a perfect day for working on my garden. I have asked a few of my neighbors to help and they seem interested. At least I wont have to work on this project on my own. I also researched some more information on growing vegetables. I think it would be awesome to have a nice food source right in my backyard. It would save me a lot of money and also I would at least know where my food is coming from.

I can really decide on… Continue

Getting People Involved

I was thinking today while in school of a way to try and get more of the students interested in recycling and volunteering. A lot of the people I see just don't seem to want to help out I guess they either might not find it "fun" or "entertaining". Since I have been starting my garden project I was wondering maybe if I got them to help out by making interesting garden decorations out of recycled goods could be a fun way for them to get involved. I just think that maybe if I make it seem more… Continue

Garden Project Update

Well so far I have cleaned up my backyard I never realized how much of a mess it was. I am just about ready to plant now. The project got a bit delayed due to a very very bad storm in my area. I have to go to my local gardening store today and tomorrow to pick up plants and other supplies. It's nice to know though that now my project is finally progressing.

IMAGINE2-What will I be eating?

Well here is what you asked...

"Where are you? Who are you eating with?
Where did your food come from? How did you get it?
Who prepared it? What is the dish called? What does it taste

like?"

Well I hope to be living in a nice home somewhere in New York with a nice large backyard with a huge garden.

Also I would love to live near some community gardens as well.

I will be eating with my family and my many pets. (I love animals just so you know… Continue

ACT2-Starting my own home garden.

Well as some of you already know I am working on starting my home garden. I have already helped out at a few of my local community gardens and decided I should start my own.

Gardens have many benefits to everyday life. They are beautiful but also if you plant vegetables they supply you with food that can last you for week maybe longer. It will save you money in the long run. You can also share your crops with others saving them money too.

I hope to expand my project to more people in… Continue

LEARN2-Helping people in my neighborhood.

As I walk around in New York City I always see homeless people. It always makes me wonder how they got there. What their story is, and is there anything I can do to help.

I know that there are many volunteer food drives and soup kitchens in the area. I myself would love to go out and try to help at these places and maybe find a way to improve on the already existing programs.

I feel that people just don't care about the homeless and needy, the people who everyday its a challenge to… Continue

NEWSKILL-Gardening And Building A Greener Future

Well one important skill that is important to have and easy to learn is Gardening.

Personally as some of you know I am working on a project to create a community garden. It will be a great experience plus I am going to use recyled items as well in the project.

It is not very hard to learn how to garden. You can learn most of it online or from your friends and family.

I think that is everyone just plants one plant it will make the world just a little bit…

NEXTSTEP-Creating A Garden With Recycled Goods

I was browsing through pictures today when I saw this image posted by James Ream

This photo truly inspired me to take action in my neighborhood. I have noticed recently that people have been throwing out more and more trash and sometimes it just sits there. Instead of just throwing it out why don't we recycle it. In the photo above you see how someone used a old toilet and turned it into a flower pot. Now instead… Continue

IMAGINE1 Where Will I Be

"When Alchemy calls you in 2020, where will you be?"
In ten years I would have completed my two years at QCC and my four years at PRATT. I will be working as a graphic designer and freelance artist. I'd live in an apartment, preferably a nice sized studio in Manhattan.
In my spare time I would volunteer at community centers. I would help in anyway I could and donate money to many different charities and programs that help people around the world.

ACT1 Who I Chose To Shadow

While looking on the PopTech website I found two people who I would love to shadow there names are Aviva Presser Aiden & Hugo Van Vuuren. These two founded Lebônê Solutions Inc. in order to help meet the need of "off-grid energy and lighting in the developing world." They do this by using microbial fuel cells sold by local entrepreneurs.

I plan to shadow them by following them on PopTech and…

LEARN1 Don't Force Change

While reading this article this stood out the most

"Don’t fight culture (If people cook by stirring their stews, they’re not going to use a solar oven, no matter what you do to market

it. Make them a better stove instead.)"

I feel that trying to force new ideas to people never works out. You can't just tell people to stop doing what their doing and replace everything there used to with new more advanced technology. I feel you should try to improve on the old but still keep the… Continue

Fourth of July on the Lake

This past weekend was the annual celebration at the lake house in Connecticut. It is amazing that the lake is still so clear and beautiful after all these years. The watershed association has done a wonderful job protecting these waters from the damaging effects of development. The wood grill was finally ready to cook on, so we didn't miss the propane tank fueled grill anymore. The food actually tasted fresher than in the past and was easy to keep fueled.Dad was very proud of the solar hybrid…See More

Stinging Nettle

In this blog post I will focus on a plant that is abundant in our nature, and which is immensely nutritious. It's of course the Stinging Nettle. Let's start with the chemical constituents of this plant:37 % Non-Nitrogen-Extracts19 - 29 % Ash9 - 21 % Fiber4 % Fat22 % ProteinOnce the leaves are drid, their protein content can reach an astounding 40 %, which is much higher than beef, which even under the best of circ**stances can never exceed 31 % protein. In addition the Stinging Nettle consists…See More

It is 7'oclock, I was late home from work due to an assignment that i wanted to get ahead on. By the time I get home I am feeling extremley tired and I cannot be bothered to make a proper meal. I walk to the fridge and open it to see what there is for me to eat. All of the out of date foodstuffs have been automaticaly thrown away by the fridge, they will be recycled tomorrow as animal feed or something. I see i have organic local eggs and some local cheese. Future

FutureToday is 2020/1/1. It is just like yesterday. The war is still continuing. It has started since 2010. In 2010, that year was a horrible year. Almost every energy ran out. Every country’s governments were crushed down at the same time. There were riots everywhere. All of the big company’s bosses were killed xdeadx in the riots. Troops fought each other everywhere. Food was bought up xawayx at once. There were no more food supplies in any shops. The economy was all crushed down. All the…See More

public servants

The exchange works directly for state and public workers and servants. It gives them credit in exchange for the amount of public work they contribute to the community. The more constructive they are based off a base rate the more credit they recieve.
