I think this was an awesome assignment, it really got me thinking about the resources available in my community.

Act6: Bleeding to Death

There are many things for which I am grateful to modern science. One is the lowered rate of death among new mothers. But in the places modern science has not taken root many women die hemorrhaging after they have given birth. The thought of giving birth is scary enough without that.

Bleeding to death is a real danger for women in rural and under-developed areas. So I donated to Venture Strategies, an organization getting medical supplies and knowledge to women in Ethiopia, specifically… Continue

Imagine4: Happy Water Day!

On Water Day 2020, as the sun rises, EVOKE agents all over the developed world are setting up wells. The wells are huge stands in the centers of towns where volunteers wait with different sized weights. Hundreds of thousands of people who have running water in their houses are going to use the wells today.

As the sun rises a few adventurous souls arrive first. They come with their buckets and the volunteers help to load them with weights. For each person in their family the participant… Continue

Learn9: Crisis Management

I picked "How do people react in a pandemic?" as my secret of choice. Almost all the crisis management is based on this first question, since any response takes place after the panic - and if we can learn to moderate that response before it is panic then so much the better.

I really like the comment that the knee-jerk over reaction is often useful. If, before the actual disaster arrives in full-force, people have done some research and are taking precautions then we will be in better… Continue

Act10: Season 2 Episode 1

I wrote this with several possible missions and quests in mind. One is a look at dealing with conflict, areas where there is war on some level. Possible missions would be Learn: what conflicts are going on today, but maybe underrepresented in the news; Act: Spread the word of those conflicts. Support an organization that encourages peace.

Something else that I think is important to talk about with social innovation is funding. We cannot fund our work the way that Alchemy did, we need… Continue

Learn10: Questions, Comments and Whatnot

In season two I hope that more on climate change and pollution is included. I think that this season had a good handle on people related crises, but less on environmental subjects - or rather subjects were approached with the view of bettering human's lives, which can feel limited since we share the planet. It would be nice to see a continuation on all of the issues discussed here.

I think a specific place to build a community would be neat. Africa was a broad region to encompass in… Continue

Imagine10: A Manifesto

The purpose of the EVOKE network is to be a mobile and independent team of international crisis-solvers. We are the opposite of terrorists; through using small task forces we spread hope, imagination, and a sense of security, self-empowerment and well-being. By keeping our forces small and our objectives specific, we are able to achieve what large and unwieldy institutions are unable to.

Some of the crises taken on by the EVOKE network are disasters which strike quickly, while others… Continue

"I love that you've brought this to attention. An extensive database of uncommon but resistant and hardy plants/foods could be developed and organized by climate. Ease of growth and processing should also be taken in to account. I will try to…"

Fourth of July on the Lake

This past weekend was the annual celebration at the lake house in Connecticut. It is amazing that the lake is still so clear and beautiful after all these years. The watershed association has done a wonderful job protecting these waters from the damaging effects of development. The wood grill was finally ready to cook on, so we didn't miss the propane tank fueled grill anymore. The food actually tasted fresher than in the past and was easy to keep fueled.Dad was very proud of the solar hybrid…See More

Stinging Nettle

In this blog post I will focus on a plant that is abundant in our nature, and which is immensely nutritious. It's of course the Stinging Nettle. Let's start with the chemical constituents of this plant:37 % Non-Nitrogen-Extracts19 - 29 % Ash9 - 21 % Fiber4 % Fat22 % ProteinOnce the leaves are drid, their protein content can reach an astounding 40 %, which is much higher than beef, which even under the best of circ**stances can never exceed 31 % protein. In addition the Stinging Nettle consists…See More

All of the out of date foodstuffs have been automaticaly thrown away by the fridge, they will be recycled tomorrow as animal feed or something. I see i have organic local eggs and some local cheese. Future

FutureToday is 2020/1/1. It is just like yesterday. The war is still continuing. It has started since 2010. In 2010, that year was a horrible year. Almost every energy ran out. Every country’s governments were crushed down at the same time. There were riots everywhere. All of the big company’s bosses were killed xdeadx in the riots. Troops fought each other everywhere. Food was bought up xawayx at once. There were no more food supplies in any shops. The economy was all crushed down. All the…See More

public servants

The exchange works directly for state and public workers and servants. It gives them credit in exchange for the amount of public work they contribute to the community. The more constructive they are based off a base rate the more credit they recieve.
