What's for Dinner?

I hold great hope in the future. I believe science and more specifically, nanotechnology will help solve the food security and food health issues. Watch this quick intro by Ray Kurzweil.

In 2020, I will be in Maine with my wife and 2 children. Eating food that was grown locally. However, some of the food will no doubt be from other parts of the world. Most likely we got the food at our local market and had to drive to get it as we live in… Continue

Gaming for the Hungry

During the last step of this mission I gave $50 to the Good Shepard Food Bank. It was fun. That amount will feed a child for three months. However, I can do more. I can always do more.

A friend and I starting Maine Gamers for Charity in February of this year. We play games for 24+ hours to raise awareness and money for charity and stream the event to the Internet. We have scheduled another marathon on the 29th of April and will be raising money for the Good Shepard Food Bank. We are… Continue

Mission 2 - Food Security in Maine

I did a bit of research into food security and found some interesting data. According to the Maine Food Security Project (lead by the Good Shepherd Food-bank) 150,000 Maine residents face the risk of severe hunger. While that not may sound like much in the greater scheme of things Maine only have a population of around 1.3 million. Put simply, 11.4% of Maine's population is at risk for severe hunger. This isn't just mean they are missing a meal. This means they barely scrape by on little or no… Continue

Mission 1 - Act 1 - Find a hero to shadow

I chose Derek Lomas from PlayPower. I had seen his PopTech talk last year and had bookmarked his site but hadn't gone any further since. When I was browsing for a social innovator to follow I thought it was a good opportunity to get more involved in the great work the Derek and his organization is doing.

Personally and professionally I am very interested in using games, simulations, and virtual worlds to engage learning. So PlayPower's mission of… Continue

"I love that you've brought this to attention. An extensive database of uncommon but resistant and hardy plants/foods could be developed and organized by climate. Ease of growth and processing should also be taken in to account. I will try to…"

Fourth of July on the Lake

This past weekend was the annual celebration at the lake house in Connecticut. It is amazing that the lake is still so clear and beautiful after all these years. The watershed association has done a wonderful job protecting these waters from the damaging effects of development. The wood grill was finally ready to cook on, so we didn't miss the propane tank fueled grill anymore. The food actually tasted fresher than in the past and was easy to keep fueled.Dad was very proud of the solar hybrid…See More

Stinging Nettle

In this blog post I will focus on a plant that is abundant in our nature, and which is immensely nutritious. It's of course the Stinging Nettle. Let's start with the chemical constituents of this plant:37 % Non-Nitrogen-Extracts19 - 29 % Ash9 - 21 % Fiber4 % Fat22 % ProteinOnce the leaves are drid, their protein content can reach an astounding 40 %, which is much higher than beef, which even under the best of circ**stances can never exceed 31 % protein. In addition the Stinging Nettle consists…See More

Future

FutureToday is 2020/1/1. It is just like yesterday. The war is still continuing. It has started since 2010. In 2010, that year was a horrible year. Almost every energy ran out. Every country’s governments were crushed down at the same time. There were riots everywhere. All of the big company’s bosses were killed xdeadx in the riots. Troops fought each other everywhere. Food was bought up xawayx at once. There were no more food supplies in any shops. The economy was all crushed down. All the…See More

public servants

The exchange works directly for state and public workers and servants. It gives them credit in exchange for the amount of public work they contribute to the community. The more constructive they are based off a base rate the more credit they recieve.
