I learned about this idea more than 2 years ago:
A couple of University students developed a water container that rolls and is pulled like a trolley. This tank would purify water while it is rolling the long distance from the water source.
Initally the name of the devise was ROSS, now is MIDOMO.
Please visit:
http://www.thisisredbutton.co.uk/work.htmlMany good feauters to point out:
1) The water drawn from the unit is potable to World Health Organisation
standards
2) The trolley can carry 50 liters of water at once, this will give girls the chance to go to school once in a while ;-) since water collection is female kids main task.
3) The system works with filters which have a life span. This firlters will release a harmless die to color the water indicating that it is time to change the filter.
4) These trolleys are not for sale in a conventional way. Normally somebody in the "first world" would sponsor one that will be distributed by NGOs to a community in need.
It would be great if someone could come up with an idea to improve Midomo.
