In 2020, I will either have a career in politics or international business. By this time I will have a family and when the Alchemy calls me to help the Tokyo food crisis I will be able to assist in one of two possible ways. The first by being a politician is through spreading awareness and governmental support. If I’m in business I could assist via fundraising to help combat the food crisis.

I 2020 I hope to be serving my country as a commissioned officer in the United States Marine Corps. I hope to have a large impact on the world by going forth on humanitarian missions that I get deployed on as well as disaster relief seeing that these are two primary missions of the Marine Corps. I will be able to help build countries and train their militaries and their infrastructures so that they can thrive and rise out of the economic and infrastructural situation that they are in.…

The Social Innovater that Im shadowing is Alex Hornstein, who develops innovative clean technologies that significantly increase global access to electricity and reduce carbon emissions. In 2020, I will be a Army officer which means there could be a huge range of possibilities of where I would be and what I would be doing. At that time, I will picture myself in a foreign country contributing and leading soldiers against enemies of the United States or possibility being a part of peacekeeping operations. I would have a huge impact on fellow soldiers and natives of the country that I'm deployed at.

My hero of social innovation that I am shadowing online will be Jay Cousins from AfriGadget because of the simple yet effective tools he created that can innovate African society one child at a time. One simple example is the Betabook which is a white board book that can help promote learning within Africa. I will keep up with them online by liking the AfriGadget page on facebook.

This is important to get right because many societies have the tendency to build their economies or markets on a process or resource that will not be there for the long-term or only allow short-term benefits. To help countries, especially those in Africa, continue to progress it is important to get this secret right. It will help the population be motivated to improve their standard of living and overall contribute towards their economic goals.

Many people take for granted how valuable food, water, and shelter is to not only African countries but worldwide. For example China has the largest economy in the world however, from the large population it is extremely difficult for all citizen to have the sources needed for survival.

I can directly relate to "Go where the action is", because in order to be successfu you cant sit around you have to be activly searching for social issues aroound the world. Once you find it you have to go to where the action is, the point of friction in order to make quick responsible decisions to benefit your cause. The best leaders lead from the greatest point of friction.

In the year 2020 I would have finished my bachelors in Political Science. I am located in New York visiting my family during vacation leave I was given with the Army. My family and I are sitting around the table eating pizza when all of a sudden when alchemy calls me to help the Tokyo food crisis. I immediately head to JFK to fly out to begin helping Tokyo.

Mabel Van Oranje is the Social Innovator that I am going to follow. She is the founder of “Girls Not Brides: The Global Partnership to End child Marriage.” She is involved with many more things such as the Elders. Oranje tries to educate and empower women so they have more of a say in their community. Empowering women can have many benefits including an economic one. I chose the live on $2 dollars a day option. I believe this is the quickest way to truly understand what it is like to live in developing areas where this is a common occurrence. To be forced to live like people in developing worlds it will quickly change one opinions about sending aid, helping, etc.

I don't have to imagine where I will be in 10 years. I will be doing what I do now. I will be an advocate in politics for Veterans in General and Disabled Veterans in particular.
