If oil runs out, we would not be able to drive, use air conditioners and our life might be without electricity. Could you imagine how inconvenience it will be? I guess this will be happening soon, maybe just in 100 years. Life without electricity is horrible. I can’t live without TV, refrigerators, cars, and so on. Electricity plays an important part in our life but without oil, it will be more difficult to make electricity. We also have… Continue

The water in the third world often has a very poor quality and is mixed with bacteria. The bacteria can be killed by chlorine or heat. The working group Eawag (Eidgenössische Anstalt für Wasserversorgung, Abwasserreinigung und Gewässerschutz) has found a simple way how anyone can prepare water at home. This method is called Sodis (http://www.sodis.ch).
The water is poured into a PET bottle and placed just 6 hours in the sun. The UV radiation from the…

A simple line. But true.
I give my vote to The Water Project. The projects focus lies on Africa, especially Kenya, Rwanda, Suda, Uganda, Sierra Leone. A seperate task is providing wells at schools.
The problems of no access to clear water are presented in pictural way. The access to clear water improves problems related to health, poverty, hunger and education in a significant way.
The…

Everything renews everyday. For example, cell phones have changed a lot in size and properties so that become more useful and convenience. Just like cell phones, energy not only changed a lot but also affects the wh*** world. Because of electricity, people can watch television, bake bread and even turn on the air conditioner in summer. What amazing effects that energy has.
In 2011, some eco-friendly and high efficiency energy and items will be developed. Such as a chip, which is put on the…

Act 4
The regional group of engineers without borders in Braunschweig is currently working on a project in Balanka, Togo. During the dry season, this African community does revert to rainwater, which contains germs and other aetiologic agents which cause diseases like diphtheria and malaria. In order to help the people in Balanka the regional group of Braunschweig is planning the construction of cisterns to save the rainwater in situ. Their goal is to store superfluous rainwater of the…

During my investigation for solution of the water crisis I stumbled upon the non-profit, international, humanitarian orgnaisation Global water that was founded in 1982. Global water is focused on creating safe water supplies, sanitation facilities and hygiene-related facilities for rural villagers in developing countries. Global Water has worked on numerous water supply projects around the world in a variety of capacities.…

As a big, fun and memorable event to bring attention to the need of clean water and sanitation I will choose to broadcast a reality show with the name "I'm a celebrity, get me some water" as a pendant to "I'm a celebrity, get me out of here". The show is about different teams of celebrities which are competing against each other and have to fulfill different tasks reffering to water allocation, water preparation and the economical use of water. The "water-camp" is located in Africa and the…

The shortage of the drinking water is the biggest social problem of the 21 century. Nearly 1 billion people all over the world haven't got access to clean drinking water. Furthermore 2,5 billions people live without moderate sanitary supply.
For "Viva con Aqua" is this fact the basic motivation to act - to realize the WASH - Projects (WASH = Water, Sanitation, Hygiene), to enable people of the developing…

I think the biggest thing that Evoke can do for the future is to open its doors to the ma****. It was piloted in 2010 and restricted only to groups in 2011. By 2012, Evoke should be opened to all interested users. The best way to spread the educational and creative problem-solving opportunities that Evoke offers is to get as many people completing the course as possible. I feel that very many people around the world can benefit from being a part of Evoke and some have already asked me about it…

In nine years I see myself in my second year of med school. Who knows, I may even be in the UK studying abroad! I have always dreamed of becoming a concert pianist, playing in grand halls, however the medicine field has been calling my name. Though I will not be an "official" doctor as of yet, I will be in scrubs working alongside doctors, either in a doctor's office or hospital. I will be assisting / observing doctors with examination of patients, diagnosis, the prescription of medicine, minor…

So it's the summer of 2020 and I go out with my family to an all-you-can-eat restaurant. All of the food that is offered to us is very delicious and quite healthy. Good thing that it's healthy or else I'd feel bad eating so much of it! There is a wide variety of organic salads available and fresh meat that is delivered to the restaurant daily. None of the food is frozen and there are no chemicals or preservatives added, which really brings out the juicy taste especially in the meat. Too bad…

I believe the main problem about the hunger problems in my local community is that the community does not know about the lack of food. If more people knew about the areas and the situation, then I believe that hunger in the community would not be as bad. This is not just for the community, but the world as well. Things they can do to improve is to reduce the amount of food that people waste and throw away. Throwing away food just because you put too much on your plate does not sounds like a…

Then we have two U.S. government initiatives. The first, Feed the Future, is a global hunger and food security initiative with the aim of sustainably reducing hunger and poverty. The second, the Global Health Initiative, is an initiative to reduce maternal and child mortality. Improving nutrition is acknowledged as an important component of both initiatives.
If we miss this opportunity, we might not see the stars align in such a way for many years to come.

This week I helped an elderly and needy individual set up a garden in his backyard. I planted seeds of tomatoes and peppers so I really hope that the plants grow to the fullest! This person truly appreciated my help.
