Charity

I feel as though Urgent Evoke should focus on fundraising to donate to charities rather than points and blog posts. Through fundraising and donations to charities we can help those in need.

Online Fund For Flu Virus

I would gather a group of both medical professionals and affirmed business people to start a fund for the flu virus. It is vital that we have abundant vaccines in the future.

changing water ways

The regional water authority focuses on protecting the water we have. getting water to those who need it is great but we also need to educate people on how to use water wisely and how important it is to protect the water we have. It's not like we can just make more.

My map to Gainesville

I would add water-bottle refill stations, solar powered bike racks and community bike-share programs to the city of Gainesville. These will greatly take our dependence off of bottled water, as well as reducing our stress on the power grid and decreasing our consumption of gasoline. (Don't forget to add the map)

Wisdom passed down

When I'm 100 years old, I'm sure that I'll have a lot of wisdom and knowledge to pass down about the local culture and sustainability, but the two pieces that I would want to pass on most are 'live within your means' and 'don't let the little things bother you'. Live within your means simply means that both with resources and monetarily, don't live with what you can't afford or sustain yourself. You need to be able to sustain your lifestyle if you want the world to still be a comfortable…

drying up

I would create a short film that emphasizes how little usable clean water we have. I would explain what the percentages are of the water we have, and how much water humans need, and how much water the plaint needs. The video would show the effects salt has on living things and what destruction it can cause in excess. It would come with information on how to reduce this issue and where to get more info.

Calling all local Hero's

The people I would call on if the Flu pandemic hit my part of the world to help mitigate the crisis would be the Boy Scouts of America. We already have an organizational structure within the unit, almost every single youth possesses leadership skills, (as well as most of the adults) and there is a troop in just about every community. They are familiar with the area because they live in the area and so the only learning curve would be a small one in the dissemination of information and…

Crisis Managment

The insight that stood out most to me was managing panic in a pandemic. Just because you stay calm and those you associate with stay calm when a crisis strikes doesn't mean those around you will. The real danger of a crisis arises not from the crisis itself, but from the fear it insights in people and the response taken to that fear. Being able to control the fear and avoid panic is paramount to good crisis management.

EVOKE Manifesto

EVOKE is much more than a computer game, it's much more than a computer tool. It's a crowdsourcing tool that brings thousands of like-minded people from all corners of the world and all walks of life together to tackle the very real issues facing our world. Our mission is to use this crowdsourcing to change our world for the better, creating a sustainable, secure lifestyle for everyone living on the planet. Our modus operandi is simple. We allow users to log on every week, challenging them…

Water For Sale

For World Water Day 2020 I would propose to hold an event so memorable that it'll spark interest all around the world.

My plan is to stage a scene in some of the most popular places whether that be a park, a mall or a well known restaurant and ask people to who work at these places to restrict access from water to those looking for it. If anyone wants water they have to be charged a premium to use it.

Hidden cameras would be used to capture the reactions on the faces of those…

Birthday

It is my daughters 10th birthday and we are throwing her a party. We now use a combination of solar panels and a decomposition machine to power the house with electricity. The kids love putting degradable waste into the processer and watching it glow as the waste is turned into power, the remaining mass is a great for fertilizing the garden.

Coming to Terms with Uncertainty

Personally, I found coming to terms with uncertainty as the most interesting of the five points. I have always been uncertain about things in life especially regarding the government and things that we are not told. I believe it is our duty as citizens to question the government and to form our own opinions as Americans.

Mastering the card.

After 23 years, I finally broke down and got my first credit card. I've always been afraid of credit cards because I've always viewed them as a sure fire way to sink yourself in debt and never be able to recover. However, in today's society, you have to build credit in life in order to be able to do things like buy a house or new vehicle. I've always avoided loans and credit cards in order to stay debt free and graduate debt free. Now that I'm officially about to graduate debt free, I went…

UNICEF Tap Project

During World Water Month last month, UNICEF launched their Tap Project which challenged users to go without their phones. Under the premise that we believe we can't go without our phones, UNICEF paralleled that notion to the fact that many people go without something they literally can't live without - clean water. The Tap Project created an app which measured how long users went without using their phones. For every 10 minutes unused, one day of water was provided for one child. In total,…

Holly Banner and the Alachua County Growth Management Department

During my time spent reporting for WUFT News last semester, I met the amazing team at Alachua County Growth Management Department who's working to lower costs for Alachua County residents to install solar panels. While many people would assume that the major cost involved with using solar panels is the actual installation, Alachua County Growth Management Department planner Holly Banner realized that many people are deterred from installing panels because of the costly and confusing permit…

To the future

The EVOKE project definitely had potential, but it lacks a connectedness with the people it's trying to reach. For the next go-around, I would suggest tackling issues that are more attainable with crowdsourcing. You're not going to find a way to tackle food scarcity in a single EVOKE length. It will take tile. Something like information dissemination is much more likely to be tackled because it's an issue we're all readily familiar with and it's something much easier to tackle.

lock down

My friends and I often discuses how we would handle a zombie apocalypse, this is kind of similar. the first thing would be to secure a location and inventory current recourses. The next step is to evaluate the environment / infected, how safe is it and who can we help. Then we collect additional recourses, which includes people with different skills, medical, protection, agriculture, and so on. then we go to work.

The next mission - child trafficking

Although many Americans believe slavery is an ancient and archaic practice, child trafficking is actually one of the fastest growing crimes in the world. In fact, child/human trafficking is the world’s second largest criminal enterprise, after drugs. Whether they're sold into prostitution rings, forced to commit crimes, traded to private owners or turned into pornography victims, these children are living in real-life nightmares which usually remain unrealized by the public. I think this is…

ignorance

My neighbors know very little about our city, it's government or recourses. This did not surprise me though, as I did not know much before I looked it up.

Fourth of July on the Lake

This past weekend was the annual celebration at the lake house in Connecticut. It is amazing that the lake is still so clear and beautiful after all these years. The watershed association has done a wonderful job protecting these waters from the damaging effects of development. The wood grill was finally ready to cook on, so we didn't miss the propane tank fueled grill anymore. The food actually tasted fresher than in the past and was easy to keep fueled.Dad was very proud of the solar hybrid…See More

Stinging Nettle

In this blog post I will focus on a plant that is abundant in our nature, and which is immensely nutritious. It's of course the Stinging Nettle. Let's start with the chemical constituents of this plant:37 % Non-Nitrogen-Extracts19 - 29 % Ash9 - 21 % Fiber4 % Fat22 % ProteinOnce the leaves are drid, their protein content can reach an astounding 40 %, which is much higher than beef, which even under the best of circ**stances can never exceed 31 % protein. In addition the Stinging Nettle consists…See More

The meal

It is 7'oclock, I was late home from work due to an assignment that i wanted to get ahead on. By the time I get home I am feeling extremley tired and I cannot be bothered to make a proper meal. I walk to the fridge and open it to see what there is for me to eat. All of the out of date foodstuffs have been automaticaly thrown away by the fridge, they will be recycled tomorrow as animal feed or something. I see i have organic local eggs and some local cheese. Future

FutureToday is 2020/1/1. It is just like yesterday. The war is still continuing. It has started since 2010. In 2010, that year was a horrible year. Almost every energy ran out. Every country’s governments were crushed down at the same time. There were riots everywhere. All of the big company’s bosses were killed xdeadx in the riots. Troops fought each other everywhere. Food was bought up xawayx at once. There were no more food supplies in any shops. The economy was all crushed down. All the…See More

public servants

The exchange works directly for state and public workers and servants. It gives them credit in exchange for the amount of public work they contribute to the community. The more constructive they are based off a base rate the more credit they recieve.
