Denial during a Pandemic

The most surprising fact for me was that people rather deny pandemic than to panic. In Germany there is currently an illness called EHEC. People get diarrhoea and antibiotic does not help. This can cause heavy damages of the kidney and even lead to death. A few people already died and a lot of people got ill these days. I hardly can imagine that people deny these facts.

I agree with the statement that panicking is not good because people do themselves harm but people should at least… Continue

The World Wide Web solution

The World Wide Web is able to make life easier. In case of a pandemic flu, it can be used as a communication instrument to share essential information with other affected people. My challenge is to implement an online platform that supports desperate people suffering from the pandemic flu. For that reason, I would ask five professionals to take part in a centralized online platform for different needs. People who do not want to leave their home anymore can log into the… Continue

I found an organization in SF called girls rock. They work with and mentor young girls. They get them into school ad help keep them on the right track in life. My mom and I did research on them and are thinking about making a donation to the group.

I did some research on woen that are working to empower women in their neighborhoods, I found a woman in guatemala. This is what I found:

"Under P4P, the participation of women is prioritized. Women farmers in Guatemala now manage rotating funds with productive and personal loans for the members of their cooperatives. They actively participate in field work with demonstration plots and also grow their own crops, to be used for their family’s consumption and also for marketing.

I thought that it would be really cool if there was a solar powered lawn mower. I mean its a waste of gas to use in a lawn mower. When people mow their lawns they are outside in the sushine anyways, so why not just have them powered by solar energy?

I have decided to choose Paula Kahumbu, from WildlifeDirect. She is dedicated to preserving wildlife in many different countries. I admired this because people don't really think about the animals of the world anymore. A lot of people nowadays are caught up with technology. People are more concernd with real social issues and problems going on in the world.

Ten years from now I plan on being a news reporter for KTVU Channel 2 News. I will be living in the hills of Oakland( hopefully) and driving an electric car to reduce the pollution in the air. That is one day I will try to improve the world around me.

I will try my hardest to stay green and eat solely organic foods, also in hopes to make the world a better place.

Saving the knowledge about traditional healing

On kivu.com I found an article about women in Oaxaca, Mexico that got the possibility to share their knowledge about plants, herbs and especially their healing practices with the world. With help from organizations like UNICEF they were able to collaborate and start a health program. They also were accepted by the community and able to train other people through courses and workshops that were offered, so their knowledge will be shared with others and not get lost.

ACT8 - Preserving Culture

I chose the indigenous people of the Fiji Islands (also known as Melanesian people). I chose Fiji in particular because I have personal ties to the country as while I was born in the US, my family parents and family are from Fiji.

The culture is rich with tradition and in particular I chose to put a tabua in the time capsule that my group has created. A tabua is a polished tooth of a whale and is an important cultural item in Fiji. They were given as gifts and were used in… Continue

I think the most influential factor of our future of money has to do with the new invention of paypal. Being able to make payments online and on twitter will almost reduce the use of paper money down to nothing. Here is a clip from the research:

Ivey got around that problem by using PayPal. Since 1998, PayPal had enabled people to transfer money to each other instantly. For the most part, its powers were confined to eBay, the online auction company that purchased PayPal in 2002. But… Continue

My group decided to use what we called an "I owe you one" type of currency. If you have seen the movie Pay it Forward then it is very similar to that.

Whenever you need something, in order to get it you let that person you will owe them... and that will be your form of currency. In order to keep track of who you owe, you would keep a little journal and cjeck the person off once you have "paid" them.

We thought this would be a great and unique, never before used type of… Continue

After hearing that over 5 million people die from not having clean water, I wanted to get out and help in any way I could. I went to the official volunteering site for the SF area and I found a few places where I could volunteer to do my part.

1. SF Beautiful
2. SF Clean City Coalition
3. SF Crisis Center

So, this summer I plan to dedicate time this summer to do some volunterring

My favorite was a non profit organization called "Global Water". This organization has projects going on all over the worl, trying to improve the water crisis and sanitation issues.

The project I enjoyed learning about the most, was there project currently taking place in Guatemala. They have created washing stations at schools for children that they have connected to nearby springs. In the dry seasons, a lot of the time there isn't enough water. This way, students will be able to… Continue

Mission 2

There are sooooo many children and homeless people in bay area neighborhoods that are starving. In fact, for many free and reduced lunch students, the meal they recieve at school, is the ONLY meal they get to eat for that entire day.

As a resul of that, there are many schools, especially in hayward that allow students and their families to come ger free lunch over the summer, as a way to begin solving the hunger issue among these many children.

This summer, I have decided… Continue

"What you have matters more than what you lack (If you’ve got a bicycle, consider what you can build based on that, rather than worrying about not having a car, a truck, a metal shop.)"

I can relate most to this because as a child, my mom used to always remind me to be thankful for what I have. i can't spend time worrying and stressing about what I don't have, rather I should be appreciative of what I do have and cherish it.

I did a search on google and found that there are inventions taking place to make solar smart phones and solar mp3 players as well.

Solar-powered smartphones. They can now be incorporated directly into a third-party product for the device. Photovoltaic smartphone cases that charge the device are already available, but they’re far from where the technology is going. With the advent of flexible, thin-film photovoltaics portable devices no longer need a bulky external… Continue

Fourth of July on the Lake

This past weekend was the annual celebration at the lake house in Connecticut. It is amazing that the lake is still so clear and beautiful after all these years. The watershed association has done a wonderful job protecting these waters from the damaging effects of development. The wood grill was finally ready to cook on, so we didn't miss the propane tank fueled grill anymore. The food actually tasted fresher than in the past and was easy to keep fueled.Dad was very proud of the solar hybrid…See More

Stinging Nettle

In this blog post I will focus on a plant that is abundant in our nature, and which is immensely nutritious. It's of course the Stinging Nettle. Let's start with the chemical constituents of this plant:37 % Non-Nitrogen-Extracts19 - 29 % Ash9 - 21 % Fiber4 % Fat22 % ProteinOnce the leaves are drid, their protein content can reach an astounding 40 %, which is much higher than beef, which even under the best of circ**stances can never exceed 31 % protein. It is 7'oclock, I was late home from work due to an assignment that i wanted to get ahead on. By the time I get home I am feeling extremley tired and I cannot be bothered to make a proper meal. I walk to the fridge and open it to see what there is for me to eat. All of the out of date foodstuffs have been automaticaly thrown away by the fridge, they will be recycled tomorrow as animal feed or something. I see i have organic local eggs and some local cheese. Future

FutureToday is 2020/1/1. It is just like yesterday. The war is still continuing. It has started since 2010. In 2010, that year was a horrible year. Almost every energy ran out. Every country’s governments were crushed down at the same time. There were riots everywhere. All of the big company’s bosses were killed xdeadx in the riots. Troops fought each other everywhere. Food was bought up xawayx at once. There were no more food supplies in any shops. The economy was all crushed down. All the…See More

public servants

The exchange works directly for state and public workers and servants. It gives them credit in exchange for the amount of public work they contribute to the community. The more constructive they are based off a base rate the more credit they recieve.
