"What you have matters more than what you lack (If you've got a bicycle, consider what you can build based on that, rather than worrying about not having a car, a truck, a metal shop.)"
These words of wisdom are important to me because if you don't a****s your current situation thoroughly and base your future decisions from it, you may mis-perceive a concept and make a poor choice because of it. In order to help change the world, we need to take one step at a time in the correct…

Saving money or changing the future of money is very difficult today. Therefore, i have looked back on the past and reminded me of the good change network. The manufacturer needed milk from the farmer and the farmer changed it with a sickle, which he needed for the high grass. Why didn't we follow our past? I have investigated in the internet and find one very good change network, named "Lets" in Munich. …

Bill McKibben and 350.org have called for an international work day to stop climate change on October 10, 2010. I have proposed to him that there should 350.org should provide an online solutions architecture in order to promote and support those practical demonstrations of climate solutions on October 10 and to make sure they continue after that day.

The concept behind the Evoke game is fascinating. It's proven to be an effective way to share information and ideas about critical problems facing the world.
Tapping into the gamer mentality for social change is a compelling experiment. But then I read comments like "Delta Team is the Heart of Evoke." (what??) and "It's just a game."
I think the "drama" on this site is heightened by the preoccupation with earning points. Sure, points are an effective (extrinsic) motivator. But…

"Understand by observing the environment, infrastructure, culture and lives of people by being there."
Understanding is the beginning of
- knowing where to act
- what to do and
- how to do it.
This will of course evolve and develop into something else as soon as you start. You are already changing the system, but by…

Based on the information shared on the "Innovation in Africa tips" post, one thing in particular stood out for me on all three entries: listen to the people around you and shape things to their culture.
If an innovator does not have the respect of the community, how are they going to change it? If the people of the society have no vested interest in what is being accomplished, how will they own it and use it when the innovator is gone? Just as the first entry says: "If they stir their…

In 10 years from now, I will have gained enough experience to make the jump and create my own social enterprise. This will be one of my best move. I will be looking for solutions to the problems of rural poverty, who knows where (developing or developed country, the world might be a very different place to live by then) and as a successful social innovator, I will do my best to encourage the new generation of social innovator.

- What you have matters more than what you lack (If you’ve got a bicycle, consider what you can build based on that, rather than worrying about not having a car, a truck, a metal shop.)
This is important to understand i believe. Why? Well because, it would seem that so much time is devoted to bringing in resources. So
much money spent on just trying to bring whats over 'there' to this
place over 'here'. We could use the resources that the country can
provide and…

one of the sadest things I see in my work and interaction is that many girls/women don't like themselves - they are dissatisfied with their body, their self image, their actions etc. in brief - they don't don't feel comfortable in their own skin.
one of the aspects of my job is to change that - and show that this is mainly a matter of the way they perceive themselves - that in reality they are amazing, powerful, creative, multi tasking and really function as super women in their enviroment…

It's easy to forget how easy it can be to help the world, even if you aren't helping any people but yourself and your family. So as I stumble up ways you can help the world I'll post them here! Please write back your thoughts and opinions, as well as any information that someone else could find useful!

Next week it will be the 10th anniversary of the day the aliens landed. The government has declared a national holiday and there will be fireworks, all the usual stuff. But not many people will be celebrating.
For one thing, there's another monster typhoon brewing in the Pacific. All those fancy new fusion generators don't seem to have fixed the weather. I remember the first television interviews when the aliens tried to explain what they could and couldn't do for us. They were like…

Considering that we wont be regularly using nanotech to produce cheap photovoltaic sheets for a solid decade or two, how about using the old photvoltaic crystal set up in cars, using suction cups, and putting them in the back windows. The average watts per sq foot seems to be between 10 to 15 per sq ft. Seems that anyone with a car window has a spare square foot or two and can replace using grid power with solar. This also could attempt to balance some of the carbon emissions that the car is…

Comparatively, I can see that this will be a extremely brief first post. However, the fact that my Evoke network is still smaller than my nuclear family leads me to saving longer posts for later. For now I will reveal some of the innovation empowering each of us. Truly it only takes one social innovator to produce effects that express forever. Learning ones powers, and understand the nature of them is the difference between dreaming and doing.
Through sharing we learn:…

The triple bottom line:

profit has the ability to
change the future of money forever. Not as a new money system but a new way of using the old one. A new type of accounting. In businesses money or profit is traditionally the bottom line but some businesses and…

Imagine a world with no cash. There would be no more dirty pennies, no more lose change, and no more piggy banks. Whenever you wanted to make a purchase, you would just type in your password or scan your eye. It would be as easy as that. However, with any advancement comes a price, and some are heavier than others. Without a doubt, changing to electronic currency would not only affect the way we buy things. Electric, or "plastic" money could change the entire way we live our…

In 2006, the United Nations said it expected Africa to be the continent most affected by climate change, not because it produces a large amount of greenhouse gases - quite the opposite - but because it is the least equipped to cope with change.
2007-2009
The rains have failed in Kenya since 2007 resulting in a prolonged drought with over 10 million people needing food aid. Drought is a normal, recurring feature of the climate in most parts of the world. It…
