At 100

In the year 2053, I will be 100 years old.

My wisdom to pass on to young people is for children to listen to their parents - always. Young people have this thing now where many hate their parents, don't want to listen to their wisdom and follow the wrong crowds - those parents gave warnings about. This has to stop at some point. Parents are to be cherished - no matter what your relationship; if bad, it should be healed -- at least before one of you closes their eyes for the last… Continue

Indigenoous Knowledge - Art

No photo is provided.

The city of Richmond is home to over 30 works of public art. With a tradition begun in the 1940s, the City has steadily acquired a unique collection of artwork, ranging from paintings and sculpture to landmark murals and artist-designed community gardens. In 1997, the Richmond City Council, recognizing the cultural, aesthetic, and economic benefits that the arts bring to a community, adopted a "Percent for Art" resolution, which sets aside 1.5% of eligible… Continue

Indigenoius Knowledge Examples

Becoming a mother is one of the most wonderful experiences a woman can endure and the process of childbirth, especially with so many processes over the years, are also exciting and educational.

Moreso in the United States, for example, women will either have a baby vaginally or through a C-section, heal for 1-4 days in a hospital, go home, take it easy, eat a healthy diet and that's it (also they are to take it easy for however long recommended). In other countries, that process is… Continue

Treasure - The Future Is Green

Treasure Island, located in San Francisco, California. The 400-acre (1.5-square-km) man-made island was built in the middle of San Francisco Bay for the 1939 Golden Gate International Expositione.

Under a new proposal, Treasure Island -- along with its neighbor Yerba Buena Island -- will become one of the most environmentally friendly developments in the United States when ground is broken in 2009.

Treasure Island project will be a test bed for eco-friendly urban ideas.… Continue

Richmond Emergency Preparedness

The approach I'm taking here is to highlight some of the points of the plans for the City of Richmond, California that has developed an Emergency Preparedness Plan, online so that the city and other areas may review and compare for their own cities.

Overall plan includes: Business Emergency Planning Guidelines; Emergency Preparedness Planning Websites; and, Employee Development Training

Business Emergency Planning Guidelines:

Preparedness helps avoid or minimize loss… Continue

Ushahidi

The types of emergency crisis that can be experienced in the local towns for which I reside in are: social unrests/riots (between races, or disagreements regarding police brutality -- such as the shooting of Oscar Grant); blackouts/brownouts, earthquakes or pipeline explosions (such as the explosion of pipelines in 2010 occurring in San Bruno, California); other exlplosions and so on.

The types of information to be tracked and the sources to be used are: number of emergency personnel… Continue

Women and children are being given better opportunities to become educated, to learn how to take care of themselves and to teach others how to become better humans.

The more they learn, the better they can become empowered and the more empowered, the better this world will be. Women must take their rightful places in society -- that alongside men, not in the back of them. In some cases, women step ahead of them.

The future of women is bright. Support from generous givers… Continue

Help Women

Women and children around the world are suffering, beyond what we can imagine or think. Many of them do not have access to hygiene items, tools for education, or even those necessary things to live.

The girls who have been educated are likely to marry later and to have smaller and healthier families. Educated women can recognize the importance of health care and know how to seek it for themselves and their children. Education helps girls and women to know their rights and to gain… Continue

Sexual Violence Can No Longer Go Unreported

“It is crucial that the terrible acts of sexual violence they both stand accused of are exposed in the legal process currently under way,” stated Ms. Wallström.

“Only by explicitly bringing these horrible deeds into the open can we help to break history's greatest silence.”

Two men were apprehended last week after evading authorities for over 16 years or so. One person, Ratko Mladiae, war-time leader of the Bosnian serb forces, was captured in charges of sexual abuse; 15… Continue

"I love that you've brought this to attention. An extensive database of uncommon but resistant and hardy plants/foods could be developed and organized by climate. Ease of growth and processing should also be taken in to account. I will try to…"

Fourth of July on the Lake

This past weekend was the annual celebration at the lake house in Connecticut. It is amazing that the lake is still so clear and beautiful after all these years. The watershed association has done a wonderful job protecting these waters from the damaging effects of development. The wood grill was finally ready to cook on, so we didn't miss the propane tank fueled grill anymore. The food actually tasted fresher than in the past and was easy to keep fueled.Dad was very proud of the solar hybrid…See More

Future

FutureToday is 2020/1/1. It is just like yesterday. The war is still continuing. It has started since 2010. In 2010, that year was a horrible year. Almost every energy ran out. Every country’s governments were crushed down at the same time. There were riots everywhere. All of the big company’s bosses were killed xdeadx in the riots. Troops fought each other everywhere. Food was bought up xawayx at once. There were no more food supplies in any shops. The economy was all crushed down. All the…See More

public servants

The exchange works directly for state and public workers and servants. It gives them credit in exchange for the amount of public work they contribute to the community. The more constructive they are based off a base rate the more credit they recieve.
