Act 5

An alternative form of money could be actions with a monetary value placed on them. This new form of currency would be called Credits- and these are of different amounts based on the magnitude of the actions. There will be both positive and negative credits based on the positive or negative actions. This week I bought a friend food and even though I used credits I would have gained some of these back for my good deed.

Charleston's Plan

Charleston and the lowcountry has done many things to help the ecosystem. The main things that they have done are better waste management, testing the local waters, creating mariculture centers like the one in Bluffton that help check the biodiversity of the fish in the local rivers. I have told many of my friends of the city's goals and they responded by how stating that the Citadel does its part by emphasizing recycling in its barracks.

Ushahidi - The Next step

I could use Ushahidi to understand the issues with the local marshes and Charleston harbor. The main issues for the local marshes are changing chemical make-ups in the water and possibly could result from the harbor being drudged to make it deeper. Some stats I would use for Ushahidi would be chemicals that threaten the local marine ecosystems, their levels, and the negative effects of harbor deepening.

Burma 2020

In 2010, women from Burma are severely limited in terms of education with only 11 percent going to university or higher schooling. The main issues are lack of a source of income to pay for the schooling and work load. If this project goes through successfully, that means that more women can gain higher education in Burma, use those skills and apply them to the country. Women gaining an education in Burma could contribute towards building the community and bring up standards. By 2020, Burma…

Educating those in the barracks on equal opportunity

For being unable to donate money, I have instead spread the word of ways to help equal the opportunities for women and empower them. I showed them the global giving website and stated how for many of programs you can donate a dollar and that small amount of money can positively impact a struggling woman on the other side of the globe.

Finding Justice in Somalia for Women

I found a compelling article in Woman Watch which explains the issue of gender violence in Somalia and how the locals and other organizations are trying their best to stop it. Unfortunately, the article had an example of how a woman by the name of Safia was threatened, held captive, and raped for two weeks. This is just a signal example of the horrible issue of gender violence. The United Nations Development Programme and the UNFPA have created institutions and are working with local…

Imagine

In 2020 there is a world report on the economy by myself. The United States i still getting by but the promise of freedom keeps us alive. Africa due to aid from China has begun to develop slowly as many of there countries turn away from democracy and socialism. Cuba is the worlds strongest economy due to real estate and land developments. France is still France

Learn

What solution would solve our money problem? I think a universal world currency could really help as well as a global currency could also even out economies across the world.

Passing on Indigenous Knowledge

In the future, indigenous will refer to the populations of different planets. The wisdom I would like to pass from Earth is to remember the lessons of the past and not to press Earth's culture on other planets but instead to merge them.

New Map

A future map of my city is here in Charleston. There are new buildings built on higher land in order for people to evacuate. There are also widen roads which will help decrease traffic while people are evacuating. There are less houses built along the coast line and the other houses built are two levels. The first level is just a lift above the ground to help prevent flooding inside of the house. Most of the houses are off of the islands and inland so they are not greatly affected by the…

Charleston Hurricane Plan

Charleston is under a great chance of being affected by a hurricane. Charleston has a hurricane plan that many people do not know about. I asked many of my classmates if they knew that Charleston had a hurricane plan and they were unaware of this. A hurricane is considered as having winds that succeed more than 74 miles per hour. Within 36 hours there should be a hurricane warning. One of the first steps is to check into flood insurance. Charleston advises having a 3 day storage of water.…

Preventing a natural disaster

The most likely natural disaster in my area of Charleston is a hurricane. With a natural disaster in Charleston there would extreme flooding and a large amount of people would be affected. We must prepare to face this crisis. There is already a lot of poverty in Charleston so a food crisis would greatly affect the area. There would be a shortage of food because of the flooding with the hurricane. A hurricane would have a power outage. Charleston is also the home of a large hospital, as well…

Women in 20 years

Women in the future are going to be involved more politically. The United States would have had their first woman president. In Spain there is currently an increase in programs trying to help women with breast cancer. These women in Spain in 2020 will have better health care opportunities including earlier detection of breast cancer which will leave to a higher survival rate. In Afghanistan there are more educational programs for women. This education will help empower women and they will…

Raising for a cause

Unfortunately I am unable to donate money to a cause. But I am spreading awareness by telling people about inequalities with women. In one of my cla**** we were asked to make an essay about anything involved human rights and inequality. The topic that I choice to write about was gender inequality. I looked at the gender gap index and discussed inequalities here in the United States considering that the United States is rated 20th in the Gender Gap Index. Spreading this information in the…

Womens Rights

A story that inspires me is the one “Finding Justice for Survivor of Gender-Base Violence in Solamlia.” An example of a lack of women rights was a sixteen year old who was grabbing water, a guy asked her for the water and ended up taking her captive for two weeks and raped her repeatedly. There is a join initiative of UNFPA and the United Nations Development Programme. The person was convicted and sentenced to 20 years in prison. Gender faced violence is a challenge in Somalia. Ninety…

Learn 5

No matter what form of currency is used it can never cross the many national and international borders. Going to a single form of currency would then make every nation on the Earth concede their individualism and thus their power. The European Union, although it uses the Euro, Great Britain refused to adopt this currency.

Fourth of July on the Lake

This past weekend was the annual celebration at the lake house in Connecticut. It is amazing that the lake is still so clear and beautiful after all these years. The watershed association has done a wonderful job protecting these waters from the damaging effects of development. The wood grill was finally ready to cook on, so we didn't miss the propane tank fueled grill anymore. The food actually tasted fresher than in the past and was easy to keep fueled.Dad was very proud of the solar hybrid…See More

Stinging Nettle

In this blog post I will focus on a plant that is abundant in our nature, and which is immensely nutritious. It's of course the Stinging Nettle. Let's start with the chemical constituents of this plant:37 % Non-Nitrogen-Extracts19 - 29 % Ash9 - 21 % Fiber4 % Fat22 % ProteinOnce the leaves are drid, their protein content can reach an astounding 40 %, which is much higher than beef, which even under the best of circ**stances can never exceed 31 % protein. In addition the Stinging Nettle consists…See More

Future

FutureToday is 2020/1/1. It is just like yesterday. The war is still continuing. It has started since 2010. In 2010, that year was a horrible year. Almost every energy ran out. Every country’s governments were crushed down at the same time. There were riots everywhere. All of the big company’s bosses were killed xdeadx in the riots. Troops fought each other everywhere. Food was bought up xawayx at once. There were no more food supplies in any shops. The economy was all crushed down. All the…See More

public servants

The exchange works directly for state and public workers and servants. It gives them credit in exchange for the amount of public work they contribute to the community. The more constructive they are based off a base rate the more credit they recieve.
