I decided to choose Jaime Delgado as the hero to follow. He is a peruvian lawyer that worked on the Peruvian Consumer Protection Law and founded ASPEC, an organization to protect consumers in Peru. He is also an Ashoka Fellow.
He is a very respected person in my country currently…

By 2020, some of the women who are being helped today will be running agencies and schools themselves or working for those agencies and schools. They will have gotten together to run their own schools that help indigenous women learn not only how to read and write, but how to use multimodal technologies such as online blogs, wikis, and virtual worlds to create value in their lives and the lives of others. These projects will get the attention of rich and powerful philanthropists like Bill Gates…

My choice for the favorite secret is the first one. Not because it is the first one and I was too lazy to read the rest but while reading the rest, this one won’t leave my head.
“Innovation (often) comes from constraint (If you’ve got very few resources, you’re forced to be very creative in using and reusing them.) “
I’d like to start with a story from the cold war and the race to the moon. On the one hand there were the Americans who spent billions of dollars, on the…

I'm very interested in changing education though gaming. For my ACT1, I've chosen to follow Dr. Sasha Barab (
http://inkido.indiana.edu/barab/). He looks to be doing some serious work and development toward games that teach, inspire, and are FUN!
I've emailed him. Let's see what happens. :)
I love this line off his site: "Students who play transformationally become agents-of-change who use real-world knowledge, skills, and…

I did not do exactly what the template wanted, but i did split the script into panels. I figure that powers that be can adjust it to their liking.. if they like this.
EPISODE 1
PANEL 1:
On a sunny, warm day in Washington DC, Agent ADW walks along the sidewalk through the city passing notable landmarks. She arrives on the street with many office buildings and the Washington Monument as a backdrop. She stops at a tall brick building with a…

SEWA is a trade union in India made of poor, self-employed women; they are 93% of the labor force in India. This group has worked to provide technology to women to better their conditions. The article above talks about how they use technology to organize resources for these women. Since "Access…

It's a surprise birthday party and all of her friends and family are here. The birthday girl is not home from work yet, but she should arrive soon. We hang the final banner. The supporting nails convert its weight into energy that is fed into the home's electrical system. This energy is used to keep the cake in the oven warm and the ice cream in the freezer cool. As guests scurry across the floor to their hiding spots, pressure sensors generate the energy that warms the living room. In…

Facebook credits are in the news this week. I bought 50 of them and then spent 5 of those on some "stars" for virtual Prada gifts.
I hope I'll be able to use Facebook credits for something I really want! I think I should give them to charity. Hope that's coming or I'll find out how to do it.

I think it is difficult to pick only one of those 33 secrets. There are a few good points in this doc**ent and I would like to combine “think like a child – children have no limit to their thinking” and “Understand by observing the environment, infrastructure, culture and lives of people by being there.”
If adults are thinking about a problem, they know the limits they have, whereas children have no boundaries. Grown-Ups will probably not do or think about something which they…

In 2020 I will have my own little café shop in Nuremberg, Germany. Everyone will love my good cappuccino and chocolate cake. And I will have a family with two kids and a nice house.
When Alchemy calls me I think I will be working in my café. So I will not be able to pick up the phone. He will leave a massage for me about the Tokyo food crisis. As soon as I got the massage I will call him back immediately and help him.

I think that people should stop worrying about them selfs and help other people. There are lots of people out there are starving and don't have cloth or shelter.

What you have matters more than what you lack
This resonated immediately with me. It is a message that crops up time and time again for me. With each experience I think I nip away at its raw edges and with these projects like Evoke I find what I struggle with isn't all that unusual. And that gives me hope! In some ways what I thik I need to…

(I've done this post on my personal blog:

OBJECTIVE ONE:
LEARN1
Innovation in Africa tips.
I'm supposed to list one tip, but there are so many great tips I agree with!
I've settled on these two:
1 - Provide skills, not just finished technologies
2 - If somebody already invented it, you don't have to
I've always been one of those people that…

This article talks about Facebook credits and how they might be used to make real-world purchases. I think virtual currency will not be an oddity in the future, but an essential part of mainstream economy. I know something about virtual economies from playing and studying the culture of Second Life. I think that virtual economies will be interlaced into our dailies lives more and more. For the water crisis mission, my idea for the…

I did not find one hero, but a wh*** community or rather an idea competition of German schools. The competition is named “Energiesparmeister” (=energy save masters). Content of this open competition is to think about saving energy, climate protection and starting projects with solutions for these problems. The competition is directed to school cla****. They show how to reach goals with ingenuity and commitment. Furthermore they want to motivate other people to start own…

Today, I learned about piezoelectricity, which is electrical energy that is generated by applying pressure to solid materials. As a piezoelectric sensor is compressed and decompressed, squeezed and unsqueezed, it is capable of generating electricity. Sustainable energy sources can potentially be created by embedding piezoelectric materials into everyday objects, such as shoes, tires,... or the human…

My international development experience leads me to believe that the most successful innovation spawns from a genuine partnership, authentic dialogue and mutual respect toward local communities. It has only been through invitation and a deep understanding of cultural implications that opportunities for sustainable impact can take place.
