Self-recharging mobile phone

Ok I must admit, my idea is not the most creative one but here we go.

I heard there is a new(?) technology available, a kind of photovoltaic foil. You could use it on window facades of skyscrapers to improve its energy record, for example you could power the buildings air conditon with it.

So that is not the new thing, as far as I know does this technology exist. In my opinion if you improve this technology you could also wrap your mobile phone in this foil,…

A Holistic Vision

Lalith Seneviratne, a social innovator from Sri Lanka, invented a "low cost, high yield biomass-based generator(s) to produce electricity for rural Sri Lanka" (Source)

I think this approach is quite crucial, although it is not the most sustainable - burning biomass for electricity always causes some trouble. But the pople in rural Sri Lanka have plenty of it and it will also…

Feats Of The Past...

..are a measure for the future.

Take some time and look back. How was your food in the year 2001? I think the normal reaction would be: not very different from todays food. Maybe it was cheaper, because the Euro did not exist 10 years ago.

So we can stick to the fact that our food 10 years ago looked and tasted like our food today. And so I think it will be the same in the future. If we order or buy a steak, a burger or a salad it will resemble pretty much a steak, burger… Continue

No work can be done here...

...so do it somewhere else.

In my youth, I used to be a scout. When I started my studies at university, I became a passive member and I still remain in my passive scout status till today. I support my tribe, scouts are organized in tribes, financially.

So i did/do not act in a way proposed by the mission but, more or less, I provide support to this goal by means of donation. Our tribe supports an orphanage in Poona, India. There, children whose parents died get some… Continue

In the Land of Milk and Honey...

Germany has the cheapest prices for eatables in Western Europe.

So in Germany there is no real issue about food security but there is one. Of course we do have poor people, people living in a poverty, people living on the streets. But none of them have to starve. Those people whose needs are not covered by the state, usually have problems to interact with authorities. They do not have to live their lives this way, i.e. on the streets etc.

So in general, you can say, in… Continue

Big Brother is Watching You But It's Ok

04/05/2021 - Berlin - 8.30 in the morning

I wake up by the rain knocking in my windows. A look outside tells me it won't be a nice day. At least it isn't cold 16 degrees celsius. After leaving my old bed - original wood(!) - I am having breakfast. On my cornflakes wrapping is so much information about its contents, and believe me you should join your chemistry cla**** if you want to have chance to understand WHAT you're eating right now.

After breakfast I use a rather new… Continue

Two Hearts beating in my chest

I deleted my first entry accidently, so I am writing a new one. :)

Listen to the right people.

A common mistake made in the past was that 'we', people of western culture, knew what was good for others, especially for weaker people. Best examples for this kind patronization is christianization and later in times of imperialism the so called "White man's burden".

Both things implied that the western cultures are superior because they could defeat the rest. After… Continue

About Giving Up

On Pop Tech Social Innovators page a pod-cast from a teacher called James O'Brien caught my attention. You are about to ask why.

Because I was surprised to see the words 'Brooklyn' and 'Arts and Media' in one term. Brooklyn is, in my mind, a place with a lot of social problems (I must admit I have never been there, so that is just my prejudice) and therefore not necessarily a place perfectly fit for 'Arts and Media'. So after I watched his cast I must say: His cause is just and his… Continue

"I love that you've brought this to attention. An extensive database of uncommon but resistant and hardy plants/foods could be developed and organized by climate. Ease of growth and processing should also be taken in to account. I will try to…"

Fourth of July on the Lake

This past weekend was the annual celebration at the lake house in Connecticut. It is amazing that the lake is still so clear and beautiful after all these years. The watershed association has done a wonderful job protecting these waters from the damaging effects of development. The wood grill was finally ready to cook on, so we didn't miss the propane tank fueled grill anymore. The food actually tasted fresher than in the past and was easy to keep fueled.Dad was very proud of the solar hybrid…See More

Stinging Nettle

In this blog post I will focus on a plant that is abundant in our nature, and which is immensely nutritious. It's of course the Stinging Nettle. Let's start with the chemical constituents of this plant:37 % Non-Nitrogen-Extracts19 - 29 % Ash9 - 21 % Fiber4 % Fat22 % ProteinOnce the leaves are drid, their protein content can reach an astounding 40 %, which is much higher than beef, which even under the best of circ**stances can never exceed 31 % protein. In addition the Stinging Nettle consists…See More

The meal

It is 7'oclock, I was late home from work due to an assignment that i wanted to get ahead on. By the time I get home I am feeling extremley tired and I cannot be bothered to make a proper meal. I walk to the fridge and open it to see what there is for me to eat. All of the out of date foodstuffs have been automaticaly thrown away by the fridge, they will be recycled tomorrow as animal feed or something. I see i have organic local eggs and some local cheese. Foods are vacc** sealded for easy…See More

Future

FutureToday is 2020/1/1. It is just like yesterday. The war is still continuing. It has started since 2010. In 2010, that year was a horrible year. Almost every energy ran out. Every country’s governments were crushed down at the same time. There were riots everywhere. All of the big company’s bosses were killed xdeadx in the riots. Troops fought each other everywhere. Food was bought up xawayx at once. There were no more food supplies in any shops. The economy was all crushed down. All the…See More

public servants

The exchange works directly for state and public workers and servants. It gives them credit in exchange for the amount of public work they contribute to the community. The more constructive they are based off a base rate the more credit they recieve.
