An Alternative Way

I believe the idea of alternative currency is a good one as there are numerous means by which purchases and exchange of currency can benefit people, places and things. Although we as humans are accustomed and have grown up to know about one type of currency – that produced by the government and confirmed as specific types of dollars, we learn that there are “alternative” ways to make currency exchanges.

Many of us exchange goods and services through alternative currency types and may… Continue

New Ways To Pay

There are numerous, creative ways in which transactions can be made without the use of money as the median.

According to the many resources, Facebook, Twitter and other social medians are being used just for that. Not one is more creative than the other since they all work for the same purpose.

For the most part, it previously was confined to the online auction company, eBay. Since 1998, PayPal had enabled people to transfer money to each other instantly. For Twitter, for… Continue

Importance of Water

Water is the common name applied to the liquid form (state) of the hydrogen and oxygen compound H2O. Pure water is an odorless, tasteless and clear.

It is one of nature's most important gifts to mankind and is extremely essential to life. Man cannot live or the body cannot function without it. It is one of the most essential elements to good health; necessary for proper digestion; and helps to rid the body of its waste.

Health experts have emphasized that we should drink… Continue

Changemakers Partnership

I'm partnering with Changemakers, who participates in a variety of humanitarian efforts across the country.

One project for change involved a group that carried out a project through community members from a settlement in Lilongwe. They'd gone to a small village (Embangweni) and discovered ecological sanitation units. These folks were impressed withwhat they saw and noted that their major challenge was that of space as their plots were becoming smaller and smaller with all the filled… Continue

How do people react in a pandemic

People react in a variety of ways, depending on the type of the event, the extent of the catastrophe and if it is something that is ongoing, or what have you.

This particular article was important to me because it outlined the five ways people react and the reasons why they do react in the manner that they do.

It firsts go into how people react and how they overeact. It is the period of adjustment that happens in this phase. They know what the situation is, they pause,… Continue

Water Crisis - A Good Fix

The organization, "World.org," has a vision where all people have access to safe drinking water and sanitation; a world where no one suffers or dies from a water- or sanitation-related disease, which is the key problem in countries such as Haiti, Ghana and Ethiopia.

Children and adults do not have access to adequate sanitation -- there is one toilet for every five. It is said that half of the people in Haiti lack access to clean water and only one in five have access to a sanitary… Continue

Celebrating Sustainable Energy - 2020

Celebration for sustaining energy for the year 2020 can occur in ways such as switching from eectrical power, many organizations, businesses, residences to solar power.

Of course, we do not step into it straight from energy to solar; there is a process.

One of the items being promoted now is the Smart Meter process that shows customers how to cut down on their own energy. If more customers become "smart," the plan of Pacific Gas and Electric is for more customers to learn… Continue

New way to power something used daily

The challenge for this assignment is to take something we have and learn a way to "power" this item in a totally new and different way.l

For the items I have available -- I immediately think of my cell phone. I tyically charge the phone by electricity in my home and, unfortunately leave the charger in the outlet -- even when not in use. When I use the cell phone, I open up many applications, which eventually drains the battery power of the phone much quicker than it would if I did… Continue

Dinner in the year 2020

Imagine that there are several community gardens located within each city. These gardens were started by "Partners for Gardens in the year 2020" with the intent of communities desiring more gardens for the community to share from.

There would be at least, according to the size of the city, at least 7-8 per city, and all citizens are welcomed to use the garden. There would be caretakers to insure the gardens keep up to standard and continue to grow, and each person utilizing food from… Continue

Food Security for someone in my community

There are many senior citizens that live in my area. A program that assures senior receive nutriotious meals, who are unable to prepare meals for themselves, is called "Meals on Wheels." Seniors pay a small amount per month for hot meals either three times a week, or five days a week. They are delivered hot onspecified days to each senior. (The organization is always looking for more volunteers to deliver the meals).

Because seniors are typically low income, an idea would be to pay… Continue

Challenge to Food Security

There are a few efforts being forth in my local community.

One such effort is through the Richmond Rescue Mission, a nonprofit organization that feeds, clothes and shelters the homeless from a one night's stay, to possibly weeks or months -- depending on their cooperation to program rules. As this organization is nonprofit, it can only continue to run with the help of the donations that come in from private corporations -- those that have been committed for many years. This continues… Continue

Tokyo Food Crisis - Imagine

Tell a story about where you are, and what you're doing, when Alchemy calls YOU to help with the Tokyo food crisis.

Not being totally familiar with the Tokyo food crisis, I am with others. But the best thing for me to do is plan ahead so that PLANS will work.

A food crisis tells me that there is either a shortage of food in a particular area, that there is something wrong with that food that exists or that there is going to be an impending shortage of food for a… Continue

Mission No. 1

“Learn” Blog

1. What you have matters more than what you lack (If you’ve got a bicycle, consider what you can build based on that, rather than worrying about not having a car, a truck, a metal shop.)

What you have is yourself and for starters, you’re already off to a good start. That that you lack is what you can’t help. Along with what you have, being yourself, is your peace of mind.

Back in the day, transportation was not affordable as it may be today.… Continue

Social Innofvation Ideas

4.Innovate on existing platforms (We’ve got bicycles and mobile phones in Africa, plus lots of metal to weld. Innovate using that stuff, rather than bringing in completely new tech.)

Bring in new technology to a culture not very familiar with it can be damaging. First of all, there is an old saying to "use what you got to get what you want." People in this culture are not familiar with modern technology -- at least for the villagers, or the common folk. They are accustomed to the… Continue

Fourth of July on the Lake

This past weekend was the annual celebration at the lake house in Connecticut. It is amazing that the lake is still so clear and beautiful after all these years. The watershed association has done a wonderful job protecting these waters from the damaging effects of development. The wood grill was finally ready to cook on, so we didn't miss the propane tank fueled grill anymore. The food actually tasted fresher than in the past and was easy to keep fueled.Dad was very proud of the solar hybrid…See More

Future

FutureToday is 2020/1/1. It is just like yesterday. The war is still continuing. It has started since 2010. In 2010, that year was a horrible year. Almost every energy ran out. Every country’s governments were crushed down at the same time. There were riots everywhere. All of the big company’s bosses were killed xdeadx in the riots. Troops fought each other everywhere. Food was bought up xawayx at once. There were no more food supplies in any shops. The economy was all crushed down. All the…See More

public servants

The exchange works directly for state and public workers and servants. It gives them credit in exchange for the amount of public work they contribute to the community. The more constructive they are based off a base rate the more credit they recieve.
